After building and enjoying my first Troopy for the past two years, it was time to start another. I loved the ol 12HT/pop-top truck right down to the rusty fading paint but all at once I had about 4 people want to buy it so I decided to sell and start another. Coincidentally Lukas (@6070toyetero) had a truck down in Georgia he didn't need so I shipped it out to Oregon. A week later it arrived and I couldn't be more stoked. It's not built out, but is a perfect candidate for a complete conversion. It was previously babied, even has rust isolator anodes on every body panel. I cannot find a spec of rust on the whole thing.
While the truck did come from the factory as tan it was repainted at some point. Usually I'd be bummed but whoever did it really took the time to do it right. I cannot find a single overspray or masking line; the whole truck was disassembled and painted inside and out. Lots of old man mods - triple mudflaps, dog cage, wood framed drawers in the rear, chrome hitch cover, etc.
Currently it is a gas 3fe, about 9 seats, converted to propane at some point. The H55 and transfer case seem to be rebuild from looking at the seals - shifts awesome. Front hubs have recently been done too!
Major plans include a 1HDT swap. I've got the engine in the shop now resealing it and replacing auxiliary components. A 1HZ/HDT spline H55 is here as well but I'm still sourcing a few of the hard to find parts like flywheel and 300mm clutch disk. Alternator and starter will be fun to find too.
An Alucab Hercules top conversion should be here in about a month. Really looking forward to the build.
Here are photos of it in Georgia ala Lukas' iPhone 2
Here are a few from my phone after it arrived. I've started to strip it out. The truck came with two sets of seats, one in the front and one directly behind exactly the same. Spares are nice. Double rear foldout seats are nice to have as well.
I'm not a fan of flat black wheels or curved fender flares it came with. The steel wheels are at the powdercoaters, please excuse the rollers. Kangaroo bumper was immediately removed as well.
