Im located in south florida and im looking for any year fj40.
The floors cant be rotted and its got to run. Primerd would be a plus.
little bit of sheet metal needed and a little rust no problem doesnt need a top. Looking for a project (not a headache) that I can drive while I do the resto. Dont want to spend any more than 2K but of course price is negotiable. Willing to travel a little bit north but not too far.
I would appreciate anyones input.

Meticulously maintained FJ40, 1975. Later model power steering added, well tuned Weber 32/36, gets 15 miles per gallon, Crane Cams electric ignition. Man-A-Fre heaters, heat riser kit, 33 x 10.5 (skinnier) Buckshot Mudders, set of 5 on OEM rims. Stock suspension with Conn-Ferr shackles to lift it and shims. Front disk brake axle. Some minor surface rust. Other than that completely original, seats and all. Super dependable and will easily make it anywhere in the country, also cruises at 75 mph no problem....
Runs and drives very very well, 100% dependable. All buttons, lights, heat, swithces work. Not sure I want to sell it but I have a FJ55 project I'm trying to finance. If I got $7500 out of it I would probably sell. Came from TLC...

I saw this 80 for sale at the same auto broker I bought mine from. He said it is a 1 owner. It has factory lockers, no running boards, and is a cloth interior.

The guy is a really good guy and said he wants to move it and would take $9900 (he might go a little lower but he normally prices things to move).

I have a friend who is a contract car finder and I noticed in his list of cars a bunch of '93 to '00 Cruisers. He actually specializes in LC's and knows about the vin #'s on the body panels and the diff locks. Please contact him if you are interested. There are 3 listed for this weeks sale, a '94 - Champagne with 133k miles, '96 WHite with 72k miles and '97 white with 68k miles. There are a ton of '98s t0 '00s. He is looking at the '94 for me. Basically you buy the vehicle at a huge discount and pay him a finders fee. That is all there is to it. He is sending me the post sale report on Cruisers for...
Just picked up a [83 Fj 60 197000 mi] about to go to the scrap yard..
Friend gave to me with a few minor rust spots but the body and frame are real strait. Rebuilt the motor and it runs cool but carb needs adjusting.
leaking a drop here and there of oil. 1200$ paint job and interior is fair at best.
What do you think its worth?
and is it worth putting in another 5k in lift, tires, wheels, seats, carpet, door pads, etc.?
What does the 350 convert w/ tranny run?

So basically I am looking for a parts truck somewhere near Minnesota. I need the front end for body parts and the windshield frame. There will probably be a few other parts I will use as well but the rest doesn't really matter.
Anyone have a cruiser for $2,000.00 or less. Would prefer a 72 as this is the one I owned 10 years ago in Red Wing MN. Anyone have any info on that one? :D Anyways, would prefer one for restoration so: NO v8, NO lift and No diamond plating. Would consider older than 72 would prefer hardtop and original seats but willing to compromise. Am prepared and planning on working on it so cruiser does not need to be perfect by any means just needs to have a fair price and none of the things listed above. Thank You for all your help. I'm looking for an FJ40 to undergo a V8/auto tranny swap. It doesn't have to run well, but it does have to run, i.e. it has to be able to be driven onto a trailer so it can be shipped to me (if necessary), then towed to my mechanic.
Requirements:
- year doesn't matter, though I would prefer a 75 or newer (76 would be ideal)
- sound, solid frame
- solid body, no diamondplate or holes from rust, some surface rust is fine
- must have factory hard top and hard doors
I can pick up a 5.7L vortec and a 4L60E tranny for relatively cheap (about $2500-$3000 total), so engine/tranny problems are fine, as long as it can be started and driven onto a trailer.
