89 FJ62 Auto Locking Doors - How to Turn Off?

Probably a personal preference, but I find the auto door locking feature when the cruiser is started super annoying. Especially when you start the cruiser with the door open, jump out, and shut the door without realizing the doors are locked, the cruiser is running, and I'm nowhere close to the spare key... FML...

So is there a way to disable the auto locking feature on an 89 FJ62

What do you mean by "auto locking?" Do you mean the central lock button that locks/unlocks all doors?

I have an '89 FJ62 as well, and it definitely does not "auto lock," if by that you mean that it locks all doors by itself, like a modern car.

This is how it functions - insert the key, turn to on, turn to start - doors then automatically lock. I should have stated earlier it does have a remote key fob to lock/unlock the doors - not sure if it's OEM though.

Closer examination of the remote it's an Autopage XT-33, so def aftermarket. Anyone have experience with these. Images attached

Roll up your sleeves, grab a multi-meter and a good set of side cutters, and spend a few hours surgically removing that non-stock abomination!
