1972 Toyota landcruiser FJ40 $7900 OBO w/ hardtop and bikini top, older build, not a show truck but very clean, solid and capably off road Toyota, arguably most of the best conversions with a lot of attention to detail and quality work. A lot of work was done by previous owners but many upgrades and a lot of fine tuning has been done over the last 10 years. Very little rust since it has been garaged in So-cal since I have owned it.

With great reluctance, I'm finally selling my '72 FJ40. This has been a hard decision for me, because this rig was my very first vehicle and we've been a lot of incredible places together.
I purchased this cruiser in 1994 from a retired gentleman who lived in Big Bear, CA. He used it to get down off the mountain in the winters and actually drove it very little. Although he was the second owner, apparently the first owner only had it for about a month before deciding the ride was too rough. The odometer was frozen at about 55,000 miles when I bought it, and the previous owner said it had stopped...

72 FJ40 For sale.
Has a SBC 327 that runs pretty good. Mated to stock Toyota drive train. Minimal rust on the body. Mainly just in the corners. Has about 65K according to the odometer. I would estimate closer to 80-90k.
It would be a good beginning of a trail rig, or a resto project. But that is exactly what it is, a project. It currently would need some work to make a buzz around town car or something you want to drive to the trail head.
Issues I know about are:
Electrical. Something’s work some don't. These things don't have an elaborate electrical system so figuring it should be strait forward.
Brakes. Has drums all the way around and are in need of service. The vehicle stops good. You just don't know which way it will go when...

I have been lurking on this site for a while now. However, it is time for me to finally make a post. Unfortunately, it is to sell my 1982 FJ-40.
Purchased it about a year ago in hopes of having the time and money to work on it. Neither have happened and don’t have a prospect to in the near future. Thought I would let it go to someone who will take care of it. . I have used it sparingly since I bought it and probably have put less than 5000 miles on it. It drives well enough to get me to the ski resorts here in Colorado and have taken it as far as Crested Butte without any issues.

With summer supposedly starting pretty soon, this thing is perfect with the top and doors off for driving around and attracting the ladies. I tied the knot last summer so I have no further need for it in that way If rain crops up, throw the bikini top on in a matter of seconds.

Truck runs strong, always starts up quick whether it's 40 above or 25 below. The previous owner had the head rebuilt just before I bought it. 15x8 black spokes/31' mud tires with good tread on them. We call her patches. Between her name and the pics you can see why. In my dads time they would have called her a “sleeper”. She may not look the best but boy does she run. I used her for an everyday driver during the summer and on sunny days I still jump in and take her for a spin into town. She is reliable, runs great and starts the first time every time.
She is powered by a 350 Chevy engine and her original rebuilt 3 speed manual transmission. At some point her original gas tank was taken out and replaced with a 22 Gal tank.
We rebuilt the steering box and replaced all the wheel cylinders and brake shoes and she stops great without pulling.

Ok here is a 1969ish fj40, It was owned by a mental (really) who got eveicted from an old ladys property over 5 yrs ago, not too far from my house. It does not have a title and does not run, but it is complete with hard top and V8, it has had some interesting things done to it over the years (losts of guages and misc. junk) It is kinda snowed in down a hill where it has set for YEARS, she called me becuse she wants to clean up the property in the spring. I have a very clean 96 4Runner Limited loaded that I've now decided to trade since I can't get the 73 and older FJ40 out of my head. My ride has a fresh 3.4 with 60K on it, new TB and WP, radiator, battery, AC recharge, I think it's sunfire red metallic (like a burgundy metallic) with the silver Limited flares and cladding. I have a TJM T-15 to go with it, added the 99+ cupholders, 99+ rear cargo panels with larger storage area, leather, moonroof, all options work perfectly and it runs and drives excellent.
