I always see this picture at my local black bear dinner.

LITP,

Years ago Land Rover and Toyota were going back and forth imitating each other, and although Land Rover produced its first pickup truck in 1954, it did not use the curved corner windows until its Series II came out in 1958. I believe that this would have preceded Toyota Land Cruiser using corner windows on either the 25 series, 40 series, or the 45 series. What say you??

I always like the concept 2 wrenches could take apart 90% of the rig and aluminum didn't rust out quickly.

Agree, Charlie. But Land Rovers got increasingly more complicated trying to improve on a 1948 original design that lasted until nearly 2017. And still others have taken up when Land Rover dropped the design and now produce new versions of that design for big money.

I'm fortunate to have both Land Cruisers and Land Rovers, and the Land Cruisers are far easier to maintain, repair, and modify. I'm also certain that some will disagree. Each is iconic and limited and outdated, but fun nonetheless. I choose to spend almost all my time here though, with a far more knowledgeable group of owners and enthusiasts. But still fun to compare engineering and design and purpose. I know, I know--but at least I don't collect plastic Jeeps !

Previous pic #2,600 must be Cyprus, not Greece; RHD vs LHD, yes?

I can only concur with you Michael:
