I have been lurking on this site for a while now. However, it is time for me to finally make a post. Unfortunately, it is to sell my 1982 FJ-40.
Purchased it about a year ago in hopes of having the time and money to work on it. Neither have happened and don’t have a prospect to in the near future. Thought I would let it go to someone who will take care of it. . I have used it sparingly since I bought it and probably have put less than 5000 miles on it. It drives well enough to get me to the ski resorts here in Colorado and have taken it as far as Crested Butte without any issues.

With summer supposedly starting pretty soon, this thing is perfect with the top and doors off for driving around and attracting the ladies. I tied the knot last summer so I have no further need for it in that way If rain crops up, throw the bikini top on in a matter of seconds.

Truck runs strong, always starts up quick whether it's 40 above or 25 below. The previous owner had the head rebuilt just before I bought it. 15x8 black spokes/31' mud tires with good tread on them. We call her patches. Between her name and the pics you can see why. In my dads time they would have called her a “sleeper”. She may not look the best but boy does she run. I used her for an everyday driver during the summer and on sunny days I still jump in and take her for a spin into town. She is reliable, runs great and starts the first time every time.
She is powered by a 350 Chevy engine and her original rebuilt 3 speed manual transmission. At some point her original gas tank was taken out and replaced with a 22 Gal tank.
We rebuilt the steering box and replaced all the wheel cylinders and brake shoes and she stops great without pulling.

Ok here is a 1969ish fj40, It was owned by a mental (really) who got eveicted from an old ladys property over 5 yrs ago, not too far from my house. It does not have a title and does not run, but it is complete with hard top and V8, it has had some interesting things done to it over the years (losts of guages and misc. junk) It is kinda snowed in down a hill where it has set for YEARS, she called me becuse she wants to clean up the property in the spring. hey guys, I am selling my FJ. I have finally tired of keeping it in hopes of restoring it and having fun. Time concstraints and about to take a new job. The body is in fantastic shape, the PO did cut the dash up pretty good, forgot to put the bell housing back on. It ran when I parked it, but since then, I have been unable to get a spark to the spark plug, it will crank, but no juice...tired of trying to find the gremlins. I have a very clean 96 4Runner Limited loaded that I've now decided to trade since I can't get the 73 and older FJ40 out of my head. My ride has a fresh 3.4 with 60K on it, new TB and WP, radiator, battery, AC recharge, I think it's sunfire red metallic (like a burgundy metallic) with the silver Limited flares and cladding. I have a TJM T-15 to go with it, added the 99+ cupholders, 99+ rear cargo panels with larger storage area, leather, moonroof, all options work perfectly and it runs and drives excellent. 1979 72500 miles, factory power steering,not sure if the winch is a factory or dealer option.dealer installed a/c converted to on board air.hard top,almost new softop,bikini top soft doors.custom bumper rack wet okala seat covers ome suspension original 373 gears,trans and transfer case and engine.33x10.50 tires tuffy center and rear locking cargo box.Holley carb.It has been painted once with no evidence of rust or body damage or bondo,past or present.
The real value to me is that it is a rust free vehicle after years of wrenching on rusty crap in the northeast I vowed I would never own a vehicle with rust,so I paid a little extra and never regretted it.

I have an '82 FJ40 that im selling due to no time or $$. It is a project i bought about 3 years ago and havent touched.
The frame was sandblasted and coated with POR15 and all body panels including tub have been sandblasted.
Includes too many new parts to list but heres a small example: painless wiring harness, new ceramic headers,tailpipe, muffler, cat converter, light bezel, dash, door panels, window seals, door weather stripping, mirrors, etc.
The front axle has been rebuilt.
Motor and tranny where kept in the rig and ran before disassembly. I bought cruiser dissassembled in boxes and just havent had time to put it together.
I'd say its 95% complete though.
It has factory power steering but no AC.

Comes with OEM style soft top, OEM powder coated soft doors, restored hard doors, frame off, zippy rust, brand spanking new everything. Also comes with the hard top. This is not restored but all the bits and pieces are there. If you want the top restored, I can do it for you for an additional fee (I'm guessing around $1000-$1200 to have it restored to the level the truck is. This could be less of course because I have not priced it out).
All of the body parts have been blasted and the tub was super clean when I started this. In other words, no suprises. Tub and body parts were is excellent condition.

We're looking for a 1975 or later model HARD TOP that passes or can be easily made to pass California smog. For that price we're hoping to get power steering (factory or saginaw) disc brakes (factory or aftermarket) and AC (factory or aftermarket).

Well, I never thought this day would come, but it is time. College tuition and other reasons have caused me to put up my beloved "Landy" up for sale. I have had it since I was 16. I bought it all stock and have made all of the modifications since. The more intensive ones were installed professionally. This truck drives like a dream, and is super reliable. My goal with building the truck was to build it for mountain bike and surf trips and have the ability to carry the gear and tackle anything in its way. It cruises great on the freeway and is geared great for the trail as well. Breaks work amazing. It is a California truck, except for the last year or so, but it has never seen a salted...
Well, it is time to let it go. 230k miles. This is the wife's FJ, and it is just more than we can handle. My time and money is more involved with motorcycles. There has been quite a bit of work done to the FJ40, both by myself as well as ULC here in Atlanta....it only looks like it is held together by rust. I would like to get $4,500 out of it, considering the amount of money we have put into it.
