Lots of cars in my work parking lot but only one stands out... ;)

That spot up front must not have been available this morning.

I need to set this sign up:

Plus I'd hate for someone to scratch up my patina'd paint hence parking farther away lol.

That's like a where's Waldo with a red 40.

Great thread keep it up.

Just curious if a fluctuating idle is normal - I just drove it to lunch and when I started it the idle was lower (but where is should be 700ish) but now up to operating temp it is 900-950 and sometimes idle is over 1,000.

Standing at your office window and taking photos of you FJ40 could be considered an obsession or daydreaming or both but don't worry we all understand. As a matter of fact after looking at yours I am considering driving mine just so I can take an "office window photo" of it. Office window photos of FJ40's should be mandatory and possibly have their own thread.

Well if you consider my life motto - "moderation is for the weak" that should explain things... ;)

You might need a stronger return spring on your carb linkage. Mine does the same thing and if I tap on the pedal it will return back to the normal idle

I will check this out thanks! Do you happen to have a link to the spring? Thanks!

I just got one from the local hardware store that was about the correct length then if you wanted it to be stronger just cut it abut shorter and bend a new hook to attach it. I do have to admit that if I could have seen my truck from my office I would have never got much done I would have probably just been looking at it and thinking or dreaming about what I want to do to it. Nice to be retired now lol

Interesting - when I lift up on the gas pedal, the idle goes down. I'll have to check and see if the spring tension is adjustable...
Sounds like you need to balance out the weight of your trotle linkage, it is now pulling on the carb. Just add a spring somewere to the linkage so the force on the carb is more neutral.

Okay solved the direction of the windshield hood pads. Will be reversing mine.

I'm replacing the windshield frame lower gasket - how do I deal with this wiring? And unfortunately the part that forms the gasket around the hole in the windshield frame broke off. I need to get that out and see if I can glue it back together (assuming that part isn't available).
