Timkin Part Numbers:

Timken Bearings

Thanks, I'm getting just under $56 shipped from rock auto, and I can't piece the ebay stuff together for less than $61.56. Your first link isn't available to buy anymore....

Is there a specific reason to use Timkin Red on the bearings instead of just using the Valvoline Palladium?

Don't think Pallidium will hurt wheel bearings, but the Red grease is high pressure and 1/4 of the weight of vehicle is sitting on that Spindle/Bearing.
It's not expensive and what Timkin specifies.

10.19x4 =$40.80 Which does front LH & RH Outters & Inners or are they different sizes?...I cant remember.

He still sells just the rear bearings minus a box. They are $10 something but open to offers.
Rear races would need sourced separate and recall they were pricey. If memory serves me I got mine from Rock (don't forget the 5% off coupon)

@Hornd , are we talking about the same thing? I'm saying $56 for everything - Set 47, jlm104910 (race) and jlm104948 (bearing) x2. So, all the wheel bearings to do the front end. So yeah, you can shave off a few bucks piecing it together (which I am all for!). thank you.

This sounds like it is being made more complicated than it should be.

Hi lazy,

Also, the expensive answer. Especially for a case where the mud mantra is aftermarket.

not necessary.....please see here:

Have you had good luck with anamaya? I've gotten a few quotes from them, but they're too slow for my taste, but the job can be done "right" for $125 (shipping included). Granted I have 2 80's, so I double the savings which is why a "few bucks" on a bunch of parts makes a difference to me.

We (Cruiser Outfitters) would love to help you with a kit, we sell them each and every day and are very familiar with all of the aspects of a knuckle overhaul... we've personally rebuild hundreds of axles :D

Some of our thoughts here:
Product Spotlight: Cruiser Outfitters Knuckle Rebuild Kits

If you need parts that our standard kits don't include, we stock them... every bushing, shim, seal, birf, clip, cap, arm, etc :D

Hi lazy,

I've been dealing with amayama for more than 10 years, initially for my 1988 Celica Alltrac (still my DD), then for my 2006 4runner, and for my daughter's 2006 RX8, then now for my 96 LX450. I've never ever had any problem with them.....2-3 days delay from the time I place an order to the time I get order confirmation and paying for the order it is definitely not a big deal for me ....I usually plan ahead my orders carefully (I don't do parts fire buy.......!!!!???? for example I just ordered all the necessary parts for doing the timing belt for my celica 3SGTE gen III, plus extremely hard to find rear hubs w/abs plus bearings and seal kit for the same Celica plus other bits and pieces(some other hoses, water pump, gaskets...) well ahead of the deadline (100K on a timing belt...) I currently have 88K on the existing timing belt...

regards

That's just a wiper repair. Six 8mm bolts and reset or replace the rubber wiper. 10 minute job. As for what the inside of the birf looks like, no way to know unless you tear into the knuckle. That's a wee bot more than 6 bolts. My favorite rebuild kit is from Nitro Axle & Gear, but I'm sure Cruiser Outfitters is just as good. Anything new is better than a 100K mile worn part.

Looks like is some confusion in this thread . Confusing best with cheapest.

Not sure if they are the best but I've been buying cruiser outfitters kits for years .Usually 3 kits at a time

depends on your definition of "best."

I went with cruiser outfitters too...but they didn't send me a sticker so I'm never going through them again. :hillbilly:
