Is there any interest in starting a thread to share 40 series spotted out on the road?

Every now and then, you catch one. Out on the dirt or rattling down some two-lane highway. A 40 series. Not on a trailer. Not behind glass or rusting away out in a field, but out doing what it was built to do. If you happen to see one out there under it’s own power, let’s see it and hear about the journey!

Bonus points if you spot one through the bug-splattered windshield of your own Cruiser (be safe!).

This thread is inspired by other threads as a compliment to them.

Ask me tomorrow.

It's been years since I've seen another fj40 on the road....I recall the last time I had seen another 40 while driving a 40, but cant remember the year it.

Nice Cruiser! I am picking up a load of mulch today but not with the Cruiser as my bumper isn’t quite ready.

This may be a very slow thread. Ha. I just saw another 40 on the road about a month ago when I was out in mine. We both had a shocked look on our faces.
Catch me if you can.
I have eyes in Montana! @Paul

Posted this picture awhile back. Wife passed by this rig in bloomsdale mo a few months back. The owner must not frequent mud. Unknown where this cruiser was from.

Can’t say for sure, but if I’m reading the plate right Lincoln County Wyoming. It gets kinda blurry when I zoom in, but it looks like a Wy plate with a 12 for the county. Kenner?

I usually will share them on my IG (@cddallara or @6f40j9) or on my Marin county Land Cruiser hangout facebook page if I’m quick enough with the phone to get a pic.
Haven’t seen many recently but it’s just getting to be better weather, so hopefully sightings will increase.
Mine is currently sheltered, waiting for me to finish the passenger seat.

I always wonder what percentage of FJ40 owners are on ih8mud. I bet it’s low…10-20% maybe?

Interesting—I thought it would have been higher. Maybe if you counted visitors who don’t have accounts.

I think for long term FJ40 owners it would be higher. Curious the current length of ownership for those who bought since they became popular. Between how crude they handle and ride. All the south of the border poorly restored and lastly US imported not restored much better I would guess that length is not very long.

I’ve had mine for 30 years and it’s family owned. It was the first car that I ever rode in and drove.

Here is the last trip that I took in it. I was headed west to Moab and I stopped on Vail Pass to toss some snow on the windshield. It looks a lot different today and I can’t wait to get it out this summer, but most of all I can’t wait for my dad to drive it again.
