There is a Global Parts Master.

It's in a vault in Toyota-shi.

The document manager is held in a "secret, undisclosed location" somewhere on the Japanese islands.

Couple more parts arrived today that seem logical to swap out "while I am in there."

Then the brake light switch that goes behind the pedal:

It is discontinued here and in Japan.

For some reason that makes me want to call CDan for the motor in my 4R. I've already replaced it once with a boneyard unit, and it's a bit anemic.

That is sexy indeed!

I guess I'm glad I snagged a spare blower motor last month then.

I will live in jealousy of how clean your blower itself is though. I may have to take mine off, ship it up to my place in CO and run it through the dishwasher.

My scrubbing didn't get it near as clean as yours!

FYI, blower motors are rebuildable...
or at least user serviceable, new brushes in mine and working well.

Where would does a user get the brushes, if one wanted to "survive" it? ;)

So after pondering for a few days I decided that the Lowe's HVAC seals weren't going to cut it on a Land Cruiser.

I pondered and pondered and thought that there had to be a way to get the stuff that Toyota Gosei originally used in manufacturing the ductwork and registers.

The answer came to me when a technician came in and needed to use the "noise kit" that Toyota supplies to dealers to suppress rattles and "noise related concerns." Pulling out the kit, it fell on the floor and the contents dispersed. And out came glory and epicness to my query and quest to keep it true...

Noise kit is made up of self-adhesive foam and felt in rolls and precut pieces....

I touched the foam and it had the same consistency as the stuff on the HVAC system (except newer of course).

So I ordered a kit and tried it out tonight and by golly it is perfect.

Check out the results:

The adhesive is MUCH stronger than the Lowe's crap and the foam feels so much more substantial.

Very happy with the results. The felt squares will also be used and will "wrap" the plastic HVAC component housings and act as a noise reducer on this components.

Very stoked at this serendipitous find.

Here is the part number and some of the kit components:

Those are just a sampling of what's inside of the kit. I think this stuff is going to work perfectly!

That said, before anyone goes running to your local Toyota parts dept to get one, be aware that the kit lists for $190 or so... Even with discount you are well over $100.

Not for everyone but a very nice touch for the purist.

Thanks Beno!
Great Info and nice find.
It isn't like anything we buy at parts dept. I under $60.
Lol
