What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week? (80 Viewers)

I have just started to replace a throttle cable on a 1977 FJ40, with a Weber 2 barrel carb. The linkage and cable brackets are all jerryrigged, anyone got a photo or diagram that shows attachment? Where can a guy find the OEM brackets and linkages for this.

If you're going to keep the weber, it will continue to be jerry rigged. The OEM brackets and linkages will only work with the OEM carb.

You could try a google search like "weber linkage site:ih8mud.com" and look at the pictures that come up.

While I'm in here I could mention that I mounted the OEM soft top channel with some cool rubber expansion nuts, since there were no captive nuts in my windshield channel, and put on my OCD top for a test fit. Looks awesome. Very motivational. Pics to follow when I get a round tuit.

There is an adapter for Weber carbs that allows them to be used with stock linkage. I briefly ran a Weber 32/36 (now running a stock carb) which had it and snapped right into the stock linkage for my '77.

WHat have you done to your cruiser this week

Give the old fj a once over with the polish ill give it a twice over next week

A twist of my wipe/wash switch wasn't grounding my windshield washer pump like it should've, so took the switch out, cleaned it up, and reinstalled over my lunch break the last couple days. Works now! Only downside is I scratched my dash trying to remove the retainer nut... :censor:

And thanks to the search function and this old thread (link) that showed me how to get the AM radio out to get access behind the dash. Would've never figured that out! At least not over a couple 30 minute lunch breaks. Now to get the radio working... Powers on, but no sound.

That scratch will likely buff out... :D

If not, don't sweat it, it's a 40 afterall.

Pulled the rusty body off of my 77 fj40 and the engine is next. Going to do a full one over with a long list of things to do. Just the start and excited about it.

Got the 8274 winch and dual battery tray mounted.

Yer camera broke? Lemme see!

Had some ask me more about my rear light and thermos so I grabbed these pics. The light is a standard off the shelf 35w fog/working light. I'll try to find the info on it. Pretty simple mount- just some plat sheet with a couple of holes. The rear wiring harness has a connector with the reverse lead and I just hooked into that.

The thermos just has a magnet glued to the bottom. Its funny how sometimes such a simple thing can be so satisfying to use.

I like the simplicity of that, very cool. I had a vision of it attached to the hub cap, I like this much better!. And I just may mount a shovel there also. Just one strap holding the shovel?

actually the shovel is tightly wedged between the spare tire and the tubing of the frame. I wish I had a more elegant solution but its not going anywhere despite appearances. All I had was a a Yakima cam lock strap for holding bicycles onto the roof rack. Works but....

Thanks,

Pete

Nice! Shame the white letters are out. :-) I have those tires and love them.

Thanks, it kind of looks like a clam shovel. Double duty. :hhmm:

Turn the tyres around so the white letters are facing inwards and it looks even worse to my eye.

I just wish the manufacturers would cease using white lettering to force me to carry around their advertising.

Lots of manufacturers try to make their products stand out ... for their own "sales-attracting benefit" and not considering their customers wishes.

To me it's like driving around with bright yellow shock absorbers or bright orange suspension bushes.

Where a manufacturer's product is good and they don't go for eye-catching lettering or eye-catching colours ... then I choose their brands in preference.

Sad to say ... I have white lettered tyres simply because I couldn't get the equivalent tyre at the right price without that s***e.

(I've thought about disk-grinding the letters off but that white colour runs deep!)

Removed my top, found out the windshield washer works...ha,ha, did a compression test which didn't turn out real good. The truck runs great so I don't knowl, might just drive it for a while. Got the rear heater fan running today. Put one 2010 fj wheel on, need to sell the monster tires and rims. Lots of tinkering.
