My 78 FJ-40 "Rovagg" is sitting in the driveway, head pulled, drive shafts etc. I suppose it will be spring before I can get the engine pulled and finish the rebuild. The days are so short (Dark before 5 P.M.) and the weather is just not conducive. I have shop rags sprayed with oil in the cylinders and all the items I removed are indoors waiting, the head is finished...now to get that "chunk" pulled in the spring so I can dive my cruiser again.

picked it up from line-x on sunday. had a few friends over to help me lift the body back on. started re-tapping all the holes. bolted the tranny tunnel back on. ordered a bunch of miscellaneous parts.

Removed seats, gas tank cover, center console, rear heater (and bypassed hoses at fire wall) pulled all bolts from top and roll cage, took off all doors, removed rear seal cover (bad idea...rust city) and am waiting on Christmas day so I can open my present from the :princess:....the new angle grinder I bought last week (she wrapped it before I could protest!) flushed radiator, went to napa, got a new fuel pump gasket, face mask breather, painting supplies, etc...and because of all this junk taking up the 2 car garage space had to move junk previously where the cruisers stuff is to attic......whew.....get me a beer:beer:

Replaced door pins/bushings on drivers door - quite a task doing it by yourself having to hold the door with one arm and get the bolts back in with the other...

Got out and about...

New oils all round, and a once over (thanks Dylan at QLD4WD.com for taking such good care of my girl!), before filling up with diesel, rust treating the underside and heading up for a week of beach and bush at Rainbow Beach in sunny Queensland.....

Wheeled around here:

Now the next week will be about getting all the sand out and tracking down the source of the leak - after three hours of driving through torrential rain on the highway the back was more than a little soggy! I am so just loving this truck.

Since getting her back on the road last week she's been my daily driver almost 100%.

Today we took two trips into the big city. There were a lot of people there. But she was not shy or timid. Even on the freeway at 70+ mph. ;p

Hey TEQ, that is one beautiful looking cruiser - makes an improvement to the Seattle streets :-)

On my HJ 47 troopy I have: Done swivel hub bearings, installed new 30 spline cromoly CVs and inner axles, wheel bearings, installed new brake discs on the front, had the calipers rebuilt and installed the new BFG KM2 33x10.5x15 tyres that I bought from Tirerack. A busy and expensive week.

Just got the 3B alternator rebuilt.

No more swapping the batteries in and out.

Picked up a Thomas 8000lb 12V winch for $200.... bargain

Winterized it by throwing on the cover to wait out the winter, safe from all that nasty road salt.

While I am moving mine to the front of the driveway in preparation for the possible "snow event" on Saturday. If I can get the vacuum pump replaced in the Suburban so I can have heat, I will sacrifice it to the salt instead.

got my first soft top (first cruiser ever, bought it without roof or doors)
