Just got back from Ouray, CO for 10 days after completing my frame off. Everything performed beautifully. Couple of small bugs, but nothing that can't be adjusted out. Here are a couple of poser shots.

We did Imogene Pass, Alpine Loop, Ophir Pass, Engineer Pass, Yankee Boy Basin to name a few. Big fun!

The ORION transfer case and the 5.921 first gear (non-USA 4-speed, H41) made it really easy.

Had it all clean, and now it's all dirty. I am really proud to be running a 40. I only saw maybe 5 40s up in Colorado the whole week...They are a unique, capable and cool rig to have instead of the very common j**ps.

Test fit my new half doors and drove it for the first time since March. Needed to move it to clean up.

Made the drive up to Workman falls and Aztec Peak ( view from Look out tower down to rig).

Within ~ 90 miles of Phoenix, climb to 7,300feet, pines, aspens, and ~25 degress cooler!

Finished cleaning and painting my window hooks. Used etching primer and rustoleum not sure how long it will last though. The paint on the shaft is getting scratched when I open and close the hooks. Anyone have better options?

While I had the rustoleum in my hand I painted the running boards. They need send blasted and some rust taken care of but thought they would look better until I am ready to work on them.

Also replaced the lower fuel filter and fuel pump.

Looks great Chris, congratulations!

I have the same combo in mine (partly due to your encouragement) and love it; good on the highway w/ 33's and stock diffs and almost perfect low-range gearing for Moab. I gave mine a trial run to there and back last May. Are you going to the LSLC meeting on Thursday? I'll be there.

Hi Chris,

Wat Color did you use on your 40?

Sir,

Could you please post a close-up picture of the fron SOA set-up? It's so sweet. I would like to see how you done the perch and U-bolt installation if it's OK with you.

Congrats on your sweet project.

TIA

gado

Hi Chris,

What Color did you use on your 40?

Thanks for asking. I used a Toyota color....Sun Fusion Yellow from the 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser. Originally it was the mustard yellow, and when I bough it, it was a canary yellow, but it looked washed out. This yellow has more red in it, and seems more vibrant against all the black. I had it formulated as a single stage paint so I could touch it up easy without having to mess with clearcoats and the like.

My FJ40 finally arrived in TX. I gave it a bath, slapped on some stock caps on the steelies and admired it over a beer.

Thank you,

I was thinking of the same color for my '78.
Its nice to see one in the actual color.

Have fun with it.

Threw another 340.00 at it and magically the new fenders appeared. Next demanding attention is the 20 year old radiator... Aluminum here I come. Cruiser porn comming next post.

Took front bumper, front fenders, and hood off. Front fenders and hood to sand blasting, bumper to get coat of Rustolium.
