turned the key in the first time in over a year :D

Rookie 2F rebuild complete!

Started off great, reworked my bumper and mounted my freshly rebuilt winch. Today got into my electrical issues ( been avoiding this as long as possible ). Running lights good, headlights good but no break lights and figured I would start with my wipers. Wife called me in and forced me to throw in the towel for now. It was for the best It was really starting to get to me.

slowly but surely trying to bring this back to life

After a week of bumping heads with 2 bro-in-laws, finally got the problems figured out, fingers crossed,
P/S pump was locking up and leaking on alternator. Fixed that. Wouldn't start then would just "click" but not turn over. Got that fixed. Still trying to figure out if the steering box is leaking and why it won't go in 4L.
Just the typical cruiser owners week I guess.
Fix-this-fix-that drive it some more.

Fitted a replacement National Luna dual battery charge controller
This is the 3rd one in 2 years, but I suspect that heat from the headers may be frying its electronics
So I made up an aluminium heat shield for this unit.
We'll see how long this one lasts,
If it crashes before our local "Legends (40's) Trip to Richtersveld" a mountain desert region in the Northern Cape region of South Africa ( Richtersveld National Park - SNTR Richtersveld Route ) in April/May then I'll replace it with another product.

Hello All,
This past weekend we:
installed the donated 2F from an 86
disk brake conversion
installed new front seats
new brake lines, brake cylinders
cleaned installed gas tank
all new hoses installed
and a multitude of other parts
towed it there, drove it home
Thanks to everyone involved

Took the tarp off mine. drove it out the back yard, gased it up and drove it to a local mechanic to check out break issue.
I also bought a brand new to me hard top with wagon doors in rear. Those will go on aftter they get painted to mach.

Tore down the mini-truck PS setup. It was starting to squeal, and I wasn't happy with the way I had initially engineered it. Built a new bracket to mount in the 1F alternator location (leaving room for OBA above it.) Then it started pouring rain and hasn't stopped since, so now I have to wait to paint and reinstall everything :(.

Installed New non usa distributer, rejetted pcs of--- WEBER ( into to carb to much $$) new fuel pump, changed oil, and adjusted valves. My 40 is finally fun to drive. non us dist. is best $ i spent. Motor runs like a striped ape. This is the best running 1f i have ever driven. Sounds like i run the hck ot of it, but thats not the case. :steer:

Man I H8 to say it especially with new parts laying around ready to go on but, I haven't done a thing to my 40 in over a month. Too much going on and no time to play. Oh well, it gives me time to stock up on parts so I can take a week off later on to do a build week. Damn I feel guilty.:crybaby:

Installed an Aussie locker in the rear diff last night. Can't wait to get home from work today to go test it out.

1960fj40---nice job on the powder coat---=looks great--what kind wheels and tire size???
