Stretching the canvas I assume would be similar to stretching canvas to paint on. I paint, and make my own canvas, so we'll see. I will keep you in the loop though buddy. (kind of hare being the lab rat, but someones got to do it.) Oh, found another set of soft doors if you are still in need.

Mine has been a PAIN! Rust is a biotch to play with. As soon as i get everything back on it to where she can come out of hiding, then its off to the photoshoot and back to my resto thread...trying to keep up with you is some kind of tough boy. ..More to come.

yeah i used to stretch canvases in art school, never thought of it that way.
We just do not have rabbit skin glue to tighten the canvas

Oh and please send me some photos of the doors, never hurt to have another back up set for parts or what not.

Resurrection...

I dropped in a new 350 over thanksgiving. I was not happy with the cam it came with so this weekend my brother and I dropped in an Edelbrock 2102. After I dropped it in I took it to get smoged and registered. All was well when my starter just click click click. Had to tow it home from dmv.

My first thought was the starter went because I just replaced the battery during my smog. After a full day and a new starter it turn out it was a failed (new) battery. I should have know. K.I.S.S. Merry xmas!

I dropped in a new 350 over thanksgiving. I was not happy with the cam it came with so this weekend my brother and I dropped in an Edelbrock 2102. After I dropped it in I took it to get smoged and registered. All was well when my starter just click click click. Had to tow it home from dmv.

You need some clear valve covers to show off all that pretty, anodized valve train! Merry Christmas!

1971 fj40 with 292 c.i. I6 ( My dumbass can't figure out how to post pic's, will keep trying )

• Recon'ed and painted jack - caterpillar yellow
• Prepped and painted defroster deflectors
• Rebuilt carb, found that it had a missing linkage rod to metering rod allowing float bowl to drain direct into intake and causing very rich condition and piss poor mileage - looking for junk monojets to scavage parts from
• Had PPG #33071 mixed up inorder to paint the bits n pieces that are supposed to be gray/silver (got frustrated trying to find the right color so just went with the PPG #33071)
• Removed all the to be silver bits - door panels, inst cover, glove box door, ash tray...etc
• Installed 60 series overflow tank - love this! (Thanks mudrak...I think!)
• Blasted, painted and installed fan shrowd after emoving 21" dia 4-blade metal fan and went with 14" dia plastic flex fan (could have probably went with 15", will keep an eye on temps as our spring/summer starts in the Mtn's of AZ)
• Installed universal washer battle on the bracket I got from Coolerman - Thanks for the great part!
• Figured out the horn problem at the stock steering wheel, PO had bits installed in wrong order and missing the part that makes contact with the ring at the trun signal switch - found one, waiting!

That's it for this week! I am new to FJ's but am totally addicted...OCD is GREAT!!!!!

finished bolting seats in........

PO had wire grill installed with zip ties:.......drilled out broke bolts and re-installed wire mesh grill.

LOL. I had the same response 6 months ago when my garage looked the same way. In fact it still looks similar but at least now my motor, transmission and transfer case is rebuilt, frame painted and body work on my tub is done. But it's still in pieces!

Spent 10mins on the big bender knocking up a bit of protection for my xmas pressies

Version 2 will be a bit different and nicer, but this will do for now.

Also fabed up and installed the slpash/skid plates for under the engine bay. Will start on the underbody cage for the transfer case this weekend.

You know how it goes... I thought I was going to do a quick brake job on the rear axle that I picked up. Found all but one of my wheel cylinders rusted tight... Ordered new ones from NAPA online - only $18+ per. (we'll see about quality).

Then I proceeded to the front axle... Again a simple brake job. Pulled the hubs and found one broken and also found a knuckle full of goo.... Called Kurt for a knuckle rebuild kit... Oh, I also found two wheel bearings that didn't turn on the opposite side.

I think now I've touched every bearing, seal and bolt in the drive train.

I still have dreams of what it will be like when I'm done....

This week

I adjusted and bled my brakes...again..., modified a storage box with drawers to fit level with and between my wheel wells to give all the stuff I pack with me that I need to get to, that is always at the bottom of the pile, a permanent, accessible home. Cut out my tow hitch to make room for my new auxiliary fuel tank. I have the rest of this week to finish that installation.

Took advantage of the relative warmth today to clear the ice and snow off the hood of the Malawi Blue Mule and swap the failed clutch master cylinder. Swapped the slave while I was at it. Shifting is much easier now

installed a new Thermostat in the fj40...........picked up some goodies for it (parts) on on a road trip this week.......
