I have no idea what that means. I have trouble with English. When working in Immingham we had one fitter from Scotland and I was always asking what he just said to me.

I had a Welsh Friend that used to send me emails and the first half was always in Welsh.
According to my translator...Welsh....Eire go Brath.... Encumberance to dependance

I thought it was Scottish Gaelic. There were no double consonants that when I see them I know it is Welsh but have know idea how to read Welsh.

Next up the partially stripped tailgate.... kinda quickens the process when you use a gas gun & a couple of strippers getting back to the raw meat...

At the university I had a Korean friend who didn't speak english. We figured out that we both knew German to some extent. So having spent a year and half in Germany, with 2 years in high school and 2 more years in college I was still un-prepared for the Korean accent. The funny part was he could read and write english. He would ask me something, I would write out my answer, he would read it, then correct my spelling/math whatever and pass it back. Chemical Engineering is universal.

I did work at the Doosan factory in S Korea for LP inner casings for Calvert Cliffs Nuclear turbine upgrades. Everyone I dealt with at the site were good with English. One Engineer I think was controls or something other than mechanical. Anytime I was overseas I would at least try to learn greetings. He tried to teach me Korean greetings and I just could not pronounce the words. His Wife said he was a stupid engineer because he was not very handy around the house but he though I was a genius because I could help him with problems with his computer. I am not a computer expert at all.

In both Korea and Japan 4 Americans would jump into a locals car and they were always supersized that our combined weight stressed the little 4 cylinders and struggled.

I did a job in Immingham and took a drive on a weekend and drove to Liverpool and crossed into Scotland and drove to Edinburgh and tried to get a room for the night. Everything was booked. So I drove to Glasgow and was surprised I drive from one coast to the other in about 60 miles. Then I was surprised just how big Glasgow was and the skyscrapers. Looked for an offramp to take me south and drove to the Clyde Valley and got a room. I am of Welsh, Scott, Irish and English decent so my family that were minors may have worked in the lead mines in the Clyde Valley as well as other mines in the UK.

I am from and live in Wyoming in the Rocky Mountain region of the US which is the 10 largest State in area but the smallest in population and a lot of cities have more people then entire state. We have a lot wide open spaces and the poor mileage of the F series and the small 16 gallon tank it was tricky getting anywhere in the Rocky Mountain states and needed 2 jerry cans just in case.

I have replaced the F engine with a Cummins R2.8 and replaced the tank with a 29 gallon tank in the cab so have solved the range problem. It will have more range then my Ram 3500 1-ton with a Cummins 6.7 diesel.

You have a very nice Land Cruiser and have wanted the truck but they are hard to find in the States. I am also 6'-3" and the FJ40 has more leg room then the truck but still did not have enough for me. I am going to move the seats as far back as I can when I get to that point.
Edinburgh can be ridiculous when it comes to rooms, if you get the notion to do it again l'd suggest the Royal Scots Club/Hotel Royal Scots Club – Legacy in Motion. - https://royalscotsclub.com/ reasonable prices, good food & bar. Your kin might have worked in the lead mines at Wanlockhead...today its a museum but there is an annual gold panning competition in the area...(finders keepers).. ;)
The Rockies look stunning & the bonus is you practically get the place to yourselves...with passing thro or lost visitors.

Thanks for the complements on the truck, its a project in motion as l use it for work...is it a flat bed you are after..? If you want to get both extra leg room & a flatbed..have you considered a banderite ?.. (double cab)

My Korean buddy taught me to use a Chinese dictionary. Starts out by counting the number of sticks. I had all the foreign exchange students teach me to say eat s*** and die in their language - making friends and influencing people. Funny about 35 years later I can only remember it in French.

l worked in London for a decade & as a Scot l found everyone often had difficulty understanding me especially if l'd just returned from being home in Scotland... it was great... l could tell people what l honestly thought about them to their faces & they didn't understand 99% of it..

Polishing compound and an old toothbrush.😉

In case you’re wondering about the tread plate material, I don’t have a ladder for the rig: I climb on the hood to get to the roof rack.

Now I guess I should detail the rest of the hood!😛
Hey did you make that cowl vent block off, or do you sell them? If you sell them I’d buy one.

Roughly, “For Ireland until doomsday, Ireland until eternity or Ireland until the end (of time)”. Just a wink and a Nod to your (my) heritage.

From the Gaeilge (Irish) phrase, "Éire go Brách". Irish and Scots Gaelic were the same language until around the 15th or 16th century, when they diverged. Ulster Irish and Scots Gaelic as spoken in the Hebrides are actually still fairly close, in spelling if not always in pronunciation, because of their proximity. Irish has continued to devolve into regional dialects, mainly Connacht Irish, Munster Irish, and Ulster Irish.

Well, I’m Italian…I can’t even spell the words my grandparents and parents screamed out loud in Italian. All we knew is they didn’t want us kids to know what they said. After a few repeats, it was easy to figure out.

A few years of the Sopranos confirmed it!

I remember watching I Love Lucy and when Ricky would go off on her my Brother in law would just be rolling and I would ask what he was saying and he would not tell me.

We had a hitch hiker on the way to town in the form of a rat snake come down under the passenger dash and rubbed my wife’s foot. It was quite the adventure coming to a good place to stop. Im not sure if it’s still in there but I’ve opened up everything to allow him to exit under peaceful means.
