The kendas have been great, really have not worn much. I Strongly recommend! They came with the 40 though and given the choice Personally I love the look of the 750 r16 tires on the old earlier fj40s some super traxions or something along those lines. I gotta buy some 16inch oem style rims first though. Not the tire for lots of hwy driving but for around where I am would be good.

I feel the 750 r16 size gives the 40 an old school beefed up willys look that I love!

I think the kenda is a good tire for the money. Especially on a lighter vehicle like a 40.

I’ve sold a couple sets and they aren’t bad.

I really Like that they have a 35-10.5-17 which is what I have back ordered in the MT version for my 40.

I think so too! nice to see another popular 33 for the fj40 other than the BFG. Its also the only off roady tire I can think of in a 33x9.50 15.

Ok, so my seats were recovered many years ago with a fabric that didn’t appear to like the sun! The passenger seat below is nothing compared to the drivers seat. My son’s GF asked if it was attacked by a bear… lol

I thought I could just cover them with an outdoor carpet with some waterproofing. Below are the results. Kinda looks like my grandmas old couch now… or like I covered them in carpet (which I did) lol. better than a bear attack I guess.

3” setback for 6’4” driver using unistrut method (still fully adjustable). Auto/marine carpet floors and seats…

I used one of those $20 tapestry from a german yard sale back in the mid 70's, Installed on my front seat likely early 2000. Lasted until last year and I put one on from my Sis. I think I'm going to do elk hide, Elsie help me catch them.
Bear's are sissies it was wolverine having a bad day.

There is something really gratifying making old parts like new. This small project required welding (filling in as it was stripped out) the interior ambulance rear soft top lever 69385-90801 square hole. Then pressing a broach to cut the new hole to receive the exterior door handle 69201-60010 . The exterior handle required a machinist to weld a new m6x1.0 post.

Then used JB weld to fill imperfections on the latch as it’s material that withstands heat for powder coating.

Applied Vegas Gold by Prismatic Powder. It’s close enough to factory for this application.

Made some more progress on going through the cooling system. Got the heater core lines and heater valve off.The heater valve was filled with rust/gunk. Got the radiator support bracket out and the lower splash shield as well. Going to be addressing some minor rust and repainting the support bracket and splash shield. If you haven’t serviced your cooling system or never replaced your heater valve you should look into it. I had no overheating issues somehow. 😅

How have the Kenda MT been? I have a set back ordered for mine..
They have been great. I put them on in late September and took it on an adventure in October. No issues. Only got stuck once. First time using the 8274.

Was that in VT? I want to do that some year.
Yes. Weren't you there a couple years ago? Maybe not for the event, but in the neighborhood.

I was living there at the time. I was in engine rebuild at that time.

Here is a pic from when we met and chatted for a bit and I learned about the event. I think you had been working on your door at the time.

Quick update - more dets on my thread.

Move to driver side to reinforce the rear hangers for preventative measures. Cut out inner c-channel - cleaned out debris & found holes in frame with light. Thought about fix, drilled out, then thought might be better way, cut out frame part, make patch, braced patch to frame - then got the new reinforcement tacked in.

Light in the frame - picture below looking up from bottom of frame.

day dreaming of driving mine again soon. Looking through photos i took all summer has me fired up to get wrenching again to keep this 40 progressing. I am also thinking about putting a warn 8274 on the front of this bad boy. a big winter project for me is rebuilding this 4speed I have. I would love to get it installed. I love the three speed but it would be nice to have a synchronized 1st and R.

Found this photo below from summer and it made me think that a OBX beach meet up needs to happen. This guy drove his fj43 from the middle of the state to here on Ocracoke.
