You must drive a petrol thats not good mpg..if you're getting 165mls per tank...how smalls the tank, l've a 4L diesel l get that on a 1/2 tank..(full tank takes 23G) with sensible driving 39.9 mls per gallon is the best l've got..usually with commute/town driving its around 34mpg.
Yea same here; diesel is the future ;)
The H might not be the fastest, but It's certainly not running out a tank in 165 miles (and definitely not my long range tank)

All of the U.S.-market 40-series had F-series petrol engines; diesel engines were not imported here.

I agree. I rebuilt a turbo diesel many yrs ago, with some research I did some modifications to it and got more power and mpg's as a result. A modified hopped up gas engine can provide more power but usually mpg's will suffer. I do enjoy a built sbc in my 40 though. Unfortunately our epa and government doesn’t like what comes out of the tail pipe of a diesel engine. The US never got a diesel Land Cruiser. I've never driven a diesel L/C, but it seems most folks comment on its lack of power or speed, just like you did.

Personally I like the bottom end grunt, and the simplicity of the diesel - you won't accidentally stall it, and it won't die from a splash of water.
The H is well short of the 2F in terms of power, and even the 2H, but if you're looking at a 1HZ conversion then you'll have the best of both worlds, despite a bit of particulate out the back.

Toyota doesn't make these 3.5 rear tail lenses, so a bit of rubbing compound and some wax and 💥!

They look great. My bezels were are pitted so I purchased complete lamp assemblies and brackets last year direct from Toyota. Not sure if they are still available.

My rig is a 67 and I would need to purchase brackets and lights around $250.00 before it's all said and done!
I have a 71 fj40 with aftermarket rear bumper that required the earlier smaller 40 tailight assemblies I got them from Spector and they were cheap but originals. my old ones were really shot. Check spector I found an expensive price and another spector search found a pair at very cheap price yet Toyota nos! can't remember price but very reasonable. Complete taillight assy.

For the time being, they turned out great!

WHYD to your Cruiser this week?
Took off bikini top and canvas doors, put my soft top and original doors back on for winter. Took a test drive and found my rear heater is not turning on! Rear heater hot but fan no go. Front fan works excellent. Man, I just took it apart last winter and serviced it. worked great. What the hey?
