Well since I’m still stuck teleworking I drank a decent amount of Japanese beer and stripped this guy down to bare metal. Then shot it in high temp primer and paint. Didn’t even miss a meeting.

Installed the OEM Soft Top bow set today. Feel like this set was in a prior accident because some of them were bent to hell, but it’s a color match.

Back to figuring out why my front brake job is getting super hot after driving for 5-10 miles. Like 190 on the hub and 200+ on the backing plate. Almost like the shoes aren’t releasing.

More small stuff that I been neglecting.

The downpipe off the turbo passes a lot closer to coolant, brake, and diesel lines than before. Got a new heater valve from city racer and all new hose with some zip tie shenanigans will work OK I think. And I found some header wrap left over from another project - better than nothing. Cut and welded the air cleaner lid but it didn’t quite work out how I hoped. Probably should have measured first. Oh well.

Always nice when stuff is still available even if it is just battery clamps and wipers. thanks to whoever here recommended OEM wiper blades a few posts back - I couldn’t find anything at the parts store that fit right and these work great.

Man, that heater hose is way too close to the turbo.

Yup. The FJs are especially bad, at least the BJ4#s had the heater valve higher up on the firewall. A number of folks running that clearance with Greg’s kit though.

I’ll just have to keep an eye on it.
