If your distributor is vacuum advance:
If you can't find a carb with the proper ported vacuum port, it can be drilled out and added by a pro. I sent one to Jim C and he drilled it and added the tube for a reasonable amount with quick turn...
Wrong, the pictured vacuum line is attached to a pipe just to the right of that mix screw. I think that can be drilled in that boss on the carb that doesn’t have a pipe, but haven’t done that myself. Anybody want to chime in on how to accomplish...
This is one example of torque seal / witness paint. Run a bead across the torqued fastener and when working in that area, or doing routine inspections you can tell at a glance if there has been any movement.
Emissions equipment in the seventies is what they came up with then. That’s what got them by at that time. Some people who dream of owning a FJ40 or a FJ60 have enough trouble wrapping their head around a 4 cycle engine, I say look at it in terms...
As someone who lives in California, I can tell you a fully smog compliant Cruiser is hard to come by these days. People will pay a hefty premium for such a vehicle, because it's the only way one can own a post '75 Cruiser. I have such a vehicle...

I say leave well enough alone for now. Think about why you bought it in the first place and what your plans for it were. If you're thinking about changing paths, form your plan and then follow it through. If that involves removing parts store...
The ride is SOOOOOO much better than the original 30 year old suspension, it's crazy how much of an improvement there was. The old shocks were so worn I could push them together with my pointer fingers. Reason I went with Dobinsons over Old Man...
You mentioned cleaning the “high pressure bypass”. To bypass a restricted /clogged oil filter? The over pressure / relief valve is accessed with the oil pan off. It’s located on the oil pump.
Good point Pighead, fully warmed up normal operating temperature of engine oil is appoxirately 325 degrees F. At those temps you would have lower oil pressure than 60 psi at idle.
The outer advance diaphragm is meant for altitude compensation (HAC) approximately 6 degrees. The inner diaphragm is good for 16 degrees. I believe the centrifugal ( when operating normally) is 10 degrees.
So I was trying to steer you to reading through “LandoNick’s” thread about this topic. Anyway, this is a picture of the stop pin with the travel limiting bushing missing.
