Please confirm it takes 4 of the 90540-10022 cushions to do the support rods? I don't have any cushions on mine currently. Thank you.
Yes, there are two on each support rod. So 4 will do it👍

View attachment 2588739View attachment 2588740It reached negative 15 degrees F on Tuesday morning. You guys from the North can have your weather back. Brushed the snow off the Bimini top as it was sagging pretty bad. The 40 has been sitting for awhile. Lost oil pressure, changed out oil pump and pressure came back. Then started losing pressure again. I haven't had time to tear into it.
My 72 looks similar in color to yours, but just reversed, with orange behind the red. I thought my original color was freeborn red, but I think now the original was orange? What year is yours?

71-97 really it's got all different year parts.

If memory serves correct the chassis is 78 with a 79 motor. It's a Johnny Cash story, but I usually refer to it as a 78.

I was at a Cruiser Rally one time and was asked the question: What year is your 40? I replied 78. He said, that can't be so because you have half rear doors. I commented good eye you know your 40's It's just one of many mods.

Not to do a thread drift but, my grandfather raised registered Red Bone coon hounds which involved training them every Friday and Saturday night the whole time I was in high school (not many dates) My friend wanted to go on a training hunt and when the hounds had treed a coon he wanted to climb up and "knock them out of the tree" to let the hounds do another scent. He went up and five coons came out of the tree along with a bobcat. We had secured the hounds but the bobcat mauled him pretty good. Funny story and he still tells folks about that hunt. Your photo of the racoon prompted my memory fjgoober.

BTW, I replaced the window regulator handles today and installed some new 6mm SS hex head bolts in the roof hold down rail.

I resprayed my dash pieces to bring them back to life a bit, heres some pics. Also just took out the radio the PO had and I need to chase all the wires back. Something so simple can really change the interior huh.

Also, this dash pad thats on here sags quite a bit, I have to push up on it to open the cubby and it touches some of the knobs. Anyone got an idea on how to keep it from sagging so much, or should I try and find a replacement.

there are 5 screws that go under dash pad that will snug it up nicely View attachment 2590376
I'm thinking based on the setup those aren't very accessible because of the rollbar sitting just above it. Isn't there also a rail behind it that the dash pad sits on that would help straighten it up?

I think easily accessible .....they go in from below. same thing happened with my first 40. PO put a dash pad cover on and didn’t put the screws back. Took me a while to figure it out.

Those dash pad screws can be found at any hardware store (stainless) M5-0.8 x 14-16mm. Looks good btw!

@SlapSmak Thank you for chiming in on the screw size. It’s been a few years since I dealt with this issue.
There were also some plastic sleeves that went into the dash pad before the screws. Anyone know where to get those?
@martola you will want the sleeves also.

Should still be available from Toyota, ordered some in the Fall.

Like @KingAir Driver said you can still get them at the dealer. I bought some and never used them. I bought a new dash pad in December and it already had it in it. Didn’t realize it had it in it and had already bought the inserts.

Keeping with the spirit of all these weather posts: because who doesn’t like to see an old worn out diesel struggle to start in the cold

If you have a manual prime pump on your fuel filter you can pump it a few times before a cold start and it will fire on the first crank, after glowing.

You should give a much longer glow to her.
