...this shirt

This one? Just a tip, that shirt runs a size small after wash.

Afternoon -

I am looking for the thread size and pitch for an oil drain plug, item 90345-54001 also referred to as item 38101B. I had the housing powder coated and there is some powder coating on the threads I'd like to ran a tap through so the plug seats nicely.

It appears to be 1.75 pitch, but I cannot determine the diameter. Taps at this size are expensive and I'd want to purchase the right one the first time!

Everyone likes pictures, see attached

Thanks in advance

I believe this is 1/2" BSPT (British Standard Pipe Tapered)

BSPT 1/2" – 14 threads per inch, The OD (per above illustration) is 20.4 mm or 0.80". Note that 14 threads per inch is the equivalent to a metric pitch of 1.81 mm.

Every tapered plug-type thread I've seen on FJ40's has been BSPT.

If you buy a tap, note that the tapered version is designated "Rc", while the parallel thread (BSP or BSPP) is designated "G". Don't use the G!

Now go get DIRTY!

Thanks.. :) will try to post more often

Glad to see you back!!!

I see you got rid of the military tyres ... so how are the super swampers in comparison to the military

My ol SS tires were LOUD ... but... by far the best off road

Again... good to see ya

Wonder if Woody could merge your profiles together as I see you have a new one

I hear you!!

My 78 has one in very nice condition so I have a reliable sample to copy from. I will post it up once I get it finished.

I am also going to print some of these for test fitting... TNK Wiper Cover / Insulator
I am discovering that this 3D printing magic can consume some serious hours...!!!

And are you using Sketchup for the modeling?

Some 3D stuff I've been messing with...

All are dimension accurate minus the Tach Bezel. (the light knob is custom) It is scale, but I shrank its dimensions for a better fit on the dash. It is designed to use a 52mm tach. Many options available for the tach, and it has a countersunk mounting face for easy installation. The fuel gauge thingy is a mod I'm working on for installing modern gauges in OEM bezels.

Printing these samples in a variety of materials nets various results. I have gone through many meters of various filaments trying to nail down one that works.

My hope is to find a reliable ABS filament that is accurate and can be smoothed easily.

The rubber parts are printed in a TPU 95 filament that works great for grommets etc. It's very chemical resistant, and flexible. Issue with it is to get it smooth takes heat from a heat gun. But I think thats less of an issue as most of these types of parts on a LandCruiser are in places that are out of site.

Anyhoo, here's a screen-grab from 3D builder. I use Fusion 360 primarily, but goof around in tinkercad and builder.

Lewis Gun / T21 is just for fun... :)

Spent 3 days backcountry skiing in Silverton/Red Mountain Pass. Amazing terrain!

Met a fellow cruiserhead while camped out at Eureka. His was also a '76. While drinking the beers and shooting the $hit the sheriff rolled in.

Turns out he wanted to check out the Old Gurl and the Zombie Trailer. After a couple of more beers he said farewell.

After 3 amazing days it was time to pack up and head back home. Stopped off at the newly relocated Avalanche Brewery for final beers.

Unfortunately the story doesn't end too happily. On the drive back I met a Moose/elk hybrid that decided he wanted a piece of the Old Gurl. Even with the weight of the Zombie Trailer the Moose/ElK was able to send the Old Gurl spinning. Managed to not fly off the cliffs and got her and the Zombie Trailer under control.

Spend enough time in the mountains these things happen. I'm sure it'll buff out. 😄

Haha, yeah, it'll buff right out :worms:
