Put on some highway miles and met up with some cruiser heads

Took it hunting.

Ran great after the carb rebuild. :)

Stopped great after the brake rebuild. :)

4WD won't engage. :bang:

Any elk?

No. Couldn't begin to get where I wanted to go without 4WD so it turned into more of a Sunday drive. :(

That's a bummer.

Just got home from work and PT and tried a compression test. No Bueno. Pulled the valve cover and at least half of the rockers aren’t moving. Bummer. And there is another mouse nest to clean up. Guess it’s time to get my neighbor to grab his tractor and stash the engine in the old polebarn.

Edit: since posting this earlier I was able to lightly tap on the stick rocker arms with a hammer and brass drift combined with some high detergent oil to loosen them up. I may get some compression numbers yet...

Sweet! How was the setup? I’m about to pull the trigger on one myself...
I like it. Still trying to figure it all out but it’s a nicely made product that’s fairly easy to install. I splurged and went with the more expensive cluster but I figure buy once cry once 😊

Wheeled it with friends! CLCC’s Fall Crawl in Gore, VA. Confirmed yet again I need lower gears and bigger tires - but overall impressed, once again, with the 40. 400 miles round trip on mostly interstates (70mph+ is still scary) with a full weekend of abusing it and it got me home.

Have a weird carb flooding issue out of the quadrajet again and a few more scratches to touch up - but overall had a blast this weekend.

Ditto - that's my thinking. Im planning on owning this for as long as i live - hopefully a few more decades. A few hundred bucks over that time won't matter...

Is there a thread on that 40 / 80 pictured above?

Nice looking rig...

No idea but it was seriously badass - one of the Redline bodies I believe

Installed the stamped bezel...

Dash is now 99% complete...
