Not during the weekend, but drove my newly finished '86 FJ60 down to Albuquerque to pick up a bunch of powder coated parts for both the FJ60 and my '71 FJ40. First time on the Interstate since the 3FE break-in period and hit 75 MPH pretty easily. Right at 3,000 rpm, with the H55f in overdrive, FJ62 axles with 4.11s, and BFG LT 235/85R16s. Love the combination. Handled well with the FJ62 power steering, OME heavy front/medium rear suspension, new Japanese 555 brand tie rod ends, and 1/4" toe-in.

Met @89BIGBLUE at Absolute Powder Coating and we took some photos of our two blue 60-Series parked side-by-side. Also met up with @NMfjCruiser to deliver some exhaust parts. It's always good to meet fellow MUD members in person. On the way out of town we stopped at American Toyota to show Antonio and Don where all the parts went that they and Dan ordered for me over the past few years, then to show Brian at Empire Engines how well his 3FE rebuild turned out. We still need to drive it up to Utah to visit the Land Cruiser Heritage Museum and say hi to @cruiserdan.

Tomorrow I hope to install the powder coated Warn winch bumper, receiver hitch, and battery tray in the '86.

That is a very sharp looking 60!
I grinned for hours! Thank you for the visit!
(It was very satisfying to see a few Landcruisers out front instead of Jeeps for a change!)

Today was one of those personally satisfying moments that may not mean much to others. But considering how much time I put into developing a truly accurate repro of the sill sticker that early FJ40s used instead of emblems (Repro Toyota stickers for FJ40 (45?) rear sill), being able to finally apply one to my own rig is a big personal deal. Very satisfying!

I will miss the patina but I must say I have and am enjoying your work.

Must have been pretty late last night when I posted this - should have been in the 60-Series forum . But at least it did have some FJ40 content :-).

Need to get them hooked early.
It’ll be a few months yet before she can reach the pedals!

View attachment 1792877 Bought this contaption at a yard sale.
Looks like a pair of engine stands tied together to make a tub rotisserie. I figure I could make one starting with a couple of engine stands... well in theory if my tub wasn’t rebuilt out of 1/8” steel.

Hi Rick.
BFG mud terrain. 33 x 10.5 x 15.
I will take some better shots at the weekend , was getting on for dusk .
The rims were on the shorty when I bought it.
They are pretty old school period rims , but I didnt want the alloy look.
Powdercoated charcoal they look alright I think.

Got a good deal on the tyres about $250 aussie dollars each.

Rolled the Warthog out of the shop after 3.5 weeks.

It got paint. A new roof rack. A stereo. Sound deadening. Cleaned up engine area and an Old Man Emu suspension.

I thought painting stuff was against your religion??

Ah grasshopper. Not true. I love Patina but I dislike chaos. My truck was (still is) chaos.

I matched the rest of the truck to the original nasty doors and hood. I rattle bombed it so it won’t take long for it all to blend in nicely.

Didn’t paint this beauty

Thanks for delivering the exhaust. As soon as we parted I regretted not taking a picture with your nice 60.
