I fixed an oil leak. My pan was leaking at the drain from a dimple in the area of the slot. After cleaning and roughing up the surface, I used JB Weld to build up the area and then sanded it back down flat. A little fresh paint, and no more leak.

Gosh I love that stuff... God’s gift to the welding impaired! :grinpimp:

New OEM fuel tank, sender unit, some gaskets, and weatherstripping for the doors came in this weekend. Now if I can get a free day to work on it!

More pics should come in my build thread.

PSA - when your bib isn’t bolted in, and your futzing around with host placement, keep your headlights away from the tow hooks! :bang:
Several years too late in my case... I did the same thing while resurrecting my 69FST. Makes a nice popping sound when the headlight breaks! But on the positive side I replaced the headlights with modern halogens and a relay harness.

Tease us with a bubble wrapped OEM tank...

;)

Stay tuned! More to follow this weekend hopefully, the temps are rising and run off is starting on the rivers. Warmer weather and no fishing, I guess that means I will get to work on my 40!

It is almost time to start moving into the smaller waters here, maybe another month or so. Until then it is kind of the best time to get some rig maintenance done. Swapping the fuel tank, finishing up on weatherstripping for the front doors, going through all the fluids, adjusting valves, all the good stuff!

Went with the larger oil filter since there is lots of room. I just want to get my baby back home, fix the electrical, and DRIVE it---it has been in the shop for around 5 weeks now. I bought new hub caps and my Vader light came in the mail so I will install those as well. I also bought the SOR tail gate chain covers---tired of hearing the rattle. Electric winch is arriving today (redundancy for my PTO winch); it will be stored in one of the Tuffy boxes; I also bought a collapseable winch cradle for the rear (which will be stored when not in use). Later. Martin

@Martyt can you tell me more about that battery tray? Is it a custom fab, or something commercially available?

It was the tray that came with my rig when I bought it. It was not stock but I decided to keep it and make use of it. Funny thing is that it looks like it would be stock given the workmanship and quality of metal used.

Repaired the front-center leg on the passenger seat that the original owner rudely hacked off with a torch for some unknown reason, who knows how many years ago. Very solid now, and not too ugly.

Evening Mud

Headed down the path of another DIY project, giving Goose some disks! Here is the first set of images as I remove, clean, catalog and set aside the old drum set-up; making way for a FJ60 Disk upgrade.

I’d like to give back to the community who has carved out and shared their failures and successes through these handful of images. Thanks again for all of your legacy information sharing fit, form and function. Patiently I waited and purchased the right parts to follow your path.

Huge thanks to @cruiseroutfit for having a library of parts and knowledge available!

Those that are following my beer feedback, Elysian is a Seattle WA Brewery with a fist full of hops. Check out their link for great tastes in your local area. Also included is a Hop Concept IPA, link This is their dank and sticky, which is a tasty IPA too!

Cheers

Finally got my magazine covers posterized and hung in the garage... They turned out great! It's pretty special seeing the same vehicle in the garage next to these posters.

Dood, saw the mag in Barnes and Noble a while back and maybe a little jealously thought wow another rich guy "builds" a 40. Then I read your build thread, holy cow man, what an inspiration!, your exhaustive research and ability to bring so many disparate elements together so seamlessly is awesome. Another fine example of the immense talent on this site. Also impressive is how clean your garage is, do you have a separate facility for the dirty work:eek: Nice work! Cheers, matt

Got her up on her side... Going to prep and raptor line the under belly. The tub should be finished and mounted to the chassis by Sunday eve... woot!
