Do believe I got the right stuff (LED instrument bulbs) this time... everything fit and worked without modifications ;)

Hard to tell in this picture but it’s much better in person!

Bulbs I ordered:

Installed the same LED bulbs a few weeks ago, and here is what my cluster looked like on the way home this evening. Note, the only modification was using foil duct tape and lining the vertical surface around the cluster. Any more light coming from my gauge cluster and it would be distracting.

@Varty Yo got 2 greens for the flashers, 1 blue for high beam... the 2 whites for the instrument area! The festoon bulb is on backorder but will go in the dash light

@GA Architect dang it (foil tape) but that’s a ‘bright’ idea! I could almost see myself pullin that cluster one more time...................

......................... Almost :grinpimp:

The 2nd one is discontinued but they showed a replacement for it.

Sorta think the most important ones (and expensive!) are the 2 for the main cluster.... I got the colored bulbs on advice from @RAGINGMATT who is an aficionado of all things switches, bulbs etc.
Since the turn signals and high beam only light up temporarily, I went with these because they were the right size and cheaper!

So where exactly did you put the foil tape? Pics?

Yea, I got into the gauge cluster work and forgot about taking progress photos. However, the surface I installed the foil duct tape is the 1.75" (+/-) vertical reveal that encircles the entire cluster. Based on how the OEM lights are to reflect off the white surface to light the gauges, I figured the foil tape would do a better job along with the brighter LED's.

Well.... got the day off and just happen to have said tape - can’t pass on a great idea so reluctantly off comes the cluster one more time :D

Thanks @GA Architect

I've not been happy with the lighting I'm getting around my cluster and I really hate to cut the shields off like several folks have done. I did pull my extra cluster out last night and started to cut it. I'll try the foil tape instead.

Good use of old but stout Land Cruiser parts. I was thinking of using a pair of old hubs at the top and bottom of a heavy wall pipe and using it as the vertical for a rotating jib crane for my garage. I'd anchor it to the floor and tie it into a reinforced ceiling joist. The jib would have either a chain hoist or an electric winch.

I hate to do this, but I would actually recommend against the foil tape. The white is necessary to help diffuse the light. Foil will act like a mirror and reflect hot spots as opposed to helping to spread the light evenly. May i suggest that you use some painter's masking tape to test some aluminum foil, prior to something more permanent like foil tape. The 5050 LED strip is not expensive and very simple to install if you have a soldering iron. I went with Green to match my radio illumination, but may swap out with Warm White just to try it out. Bright White is a bit too fatiguing for my eyes. Again...strictly my opinion on all the above.

I used Blue for the cluster meter , & Violet for the high-beam indicator & green for the Back-Lit knob Pull switch's & Cig trim ring , The Blue Lumens get
adsorbed really well by the flat black cluster face almost like a black-light and really POP

Note : All OEM Toyota parts , with exception to the LED bulbs themselves
