Booster came out of a 97? 4 runner. Bolted right up. Mr. Toyota doesn't change anything unless he has to!

Smurf you are correct that I am having to relearn the brakes.
Next time don't wait so long. I don't recognize your booster, but when I put in an 80 booster & master I had to relearn how to drive because the brakes did so much with almost no input.

Finally got a day off and after months of planning (procrastinating) I was able to follow @oldschool4wheeling 's diy to install an old set of barn doors from @fj40alex onto my 1978.

It's functional but not finished, better than an open tailgate. I had to cut off the lower pin/latch mechanism to allow doors to close flush without getting stuck on my "custom" floor. Will need to fab up a pin/spring eventually. I also plan to trim the hinges a bit

I'm pretty psyched with the end product.

The 80 series booster I used had to be turned upside down... but the bolt spacing was the same. A spacer would've made the install easier, but Toyota couldn't figure out the p/n for one without a s/n... so I figured it out without one. Toyota doesn't change much. Mine came out of a JDM Diesel :D

Continuing rebuild of engine and vehicle. Installed crank and cam. The timing mark on the crank was a tiny wimpy stamp that looked a little like a Toyota engine logo or something. Does not give me confidence. #6 rod journal was at TDC like the FSM says. How do I verify valve timing so I can sleep until I get it running?

new wheels are big improvement! what color is that on the wheels?
I couldn't find the original color so I color matched them to the color of the original metal on the jump seats and the back of the bucket seats. I had them professionally done and color matched. It ended up being a ford color.

@joyRidaz how sturdy are teh doors with just one hinge point? I had a set given to me and id like to try something similar to work on my 42. Looks great!

I ended up drilling holes to install the lower ones, I recall a thread where the guy only did the top ones, but I figured I wanted them to be sturdy enough for my kids to put some weight on hem as they climb in and out.

The other pic kinda shows where I installed the lowers, I just eyeballed it. Had to relocate the hinge placement on the door to accommodate the gap caused partially by the design between the years, but likely due to years of rot and refabrication.

I love the bard doors on there, just seems like they were meant to be there. Eventually I'll figure out the lowere pin latch, fix some rust, and paint. But for now my kids are just happy not to fall out!

Calling @powthief19 . Your turn.
From the front of the motor, 1,2,&3rd rocker arms will be "loose", or are able to be "wiggled".

If these rocker arms are in this status, you are in compression top dead center. At the same time, the timing line will line on the fly wheel will line up with the timing needle on your bell housing.

I have had an issue with heat coming off the exhaust for some time now. A suggestion in another thread was to change the distributor from a vacuum retard to a vacuum advance. So I called JTO and ordered one. I thought I could simply move the electronic pick up from the old distributor to the new one but I was mistaken. A big thank you to Mels Ignition in Siler City, NC for his help. He got the correct mounting plate and transferred the electronics and I installed it last night. Not only does it start easier but it does run a little cooler in the cab and I can feel a noticeable increase in power on hills. All-in-all well worth the money and time.

@vfh1886 is the one who needs to know.
