I REALLY appreciate the knowledge and ideas that come from the MUD contributors. Here is the latest I have been able to use.

I wanted to mount the jack on the exterior of the 40 and didn't want to drill any holes in the body. I saw an idea here some time ago and finally got around to having the welding shop I use make it for me. I made a template and here is the result.

A steel plate with two holes drilled and a 1/2" bolt welded to it with the head cut off. I had to cut more threads and it works like a champ. With a small rubber pad under the foot of the jack, I can see no movement or hear any rattles.

Back to the skid plate. I added a H55 tranny some time ago and found quickly the stock skid plate would not fit with that tranny and the support I purchased from Advance Adapters. I started cutting with the cut-off wheel and here is what I had to take out to clear the support.

Needless to say it was weakened so I asked the welding shop to add back in some steel to make up for what was removed. Here is what he added.

The patch clears the support, is thicker than the stock skid plate steel and adds back more material as I had to remove. I also had to add 1 1/2" square stock between the frame rails and skid plate to clear everything and the mount will be solid. With the $'s I had to spend for the H55, TC and other items, the skid plate and cost for the welding was cheap insurance.

Primed, block sanded, primed, block sanded, primed....bout done with the other fenders.
Finally found this pic of the d/s fender, cut out the louvers and patched it. Didn't get any of the cutting out and patching, so it didn't happen.

I wanted to keep the louvers, but I got out voted so they went away.

Ain't no where near perfect for sure, but good enough for the gal I go with.

Vader light is awesome. Was that the one off of eBay? I can't find it on @Racer65 's City Racer site.

Wise choice Nolan.

If she talked you out of the fender louvers, she's a keeper! :)

Yes sir, she didn't like them at all. Said it looked...well, didn't look right. The main reason I wanted to keep them was, I didn't want to chance messing it up. They ran at a slight angle, and ended up in the curve at the bottom. Glad we cut them out now, way better.

Celebrating the LAST major mechanical part tear down/rebuild on my 4 year journey - the steering box. Not done but de-gunked/scraped it after having to cut off the pitman arm.

Ordered what parts SOR still has for it, and will get it degreased, blasted, and painted before those arrive. The steering area is more complicated than I anticipated.

Body work is next.
