Hey Rick,
I was going to do a build thread but I decided to just post pics as I move along through the project. The 4L60e has an AA adapter that accepts the stock GM rear mount, so I'll be going as low as I can and still stay inside the skid plate. I've considered incorporating it into the skid plate but I like the idea of being able to get to things without having to temporarily support the rear.
The engine sits in almost the same position as the 5.7 and the fan hit my custom fan shroud dead center. Just a little tweaking on the P/S pump and the lower radiator outlet, and install a new air intake system. The back end will need a little fine tuning also. If my Orion sells before I get to the rear of the rig I'll go for the Atlas, 4-link and centered Dana 60. If not, I'll just move the rear axle one more hole (Ruff Stuff perches) and run what I have this year.
I've been following your rebuild/refresh and it's looking nice.

Correct!!
Worked on unbending my heater box, since it is out of the truck for the engine swap. This thing has seen some serious trauma over the years - to the point where the lower flap would bind on the housing:

Improvised metal straightening jig. Good thing I have a dozen 3" clamps laying around...

I'll also need to address a severely rusted area that is now paper thin and very fatigued...my guess is tracing it, cutting it out, and welding in a patch will be the way to go here:

The end result still isn't pretty - a bit wavy...but it will get the job done. The flap no longer binds on the bent case, and it should be passable with a fresh coat of paint.

The heater core itself seemed to be in OK shape, and was blowing hot air before I pulled it. I'll likely re-foam it with 1/4" neoprene as the original insulation had turned to dust.
What I need is a source for a new heater pull cable/dash knob. Mine is completely siezed but NOS is upward of $100 on eBay now...
Nothin special- In the last 2 weeks we've had probably 4-5 feet of snow. Love to get out on the unused roads....
Such a nice truck!! @Rustic76Installed some new OEM wiper blades for a rainy 300 mile trip at the Oregon coast. Found a little bit of sunshine along the way.

That truck is really cool. I'm curious why it doesn't have the stuff on the hood to fold down the windshield?
