Finally, got the main beam and wings on either side in. Mr. Pittman bent me up some pieces.

Him and his helper really do a good job. Started by putting a piece of 14ga. with a small 90. to help support the inner portion.

After I got it spot welded in, started on transferring the nut plates and fitting the wings.

Took me a while to fit those.

Went with 14ga. on all the main beam stuff. It's more of a hassle to deal with but I think its worth it.

Lost some pics. but any way on to the outer part

After getting it all good welded her up

I ended up cutting the wing on the right along the flanges , and jacking up the inside corner. It looked better before I put the outer portion on.

Long ways to go!

Hey Gator, love the note book looks like your going to need a bigger sketch book:)
Yea man, you know that's right @Strategic1 I had to go over the measurements with them a couple of times, its pretty sloppy. Wont be long before I start on another one. Lol, I have another one that's slap full of notes, drawings, part numbers and ect. I usually carry both of them.

I, personally, like what you did. I like that hue of green. A hue that's rugged looking & nature-wise adventurous. And true to the heart of the nature of the '40 series, the paint is not metallic, but rather remains as a simple solid. I say nothing wrong with metallic though, albeit on a more heavily modified '40 (Metallics of course present a unique depth that the solid colors naturally lack).

And that you chose a Land Rover hue of color, I like that you went out of 'the box.' Which I think, in a number of ways, is cool.

No doubt an Uber-Attractive rig would be the one below, repainted a British vintage Jaguar color, 'Willow Green.'

And in honest, I can't imagine a better looking blue than Land Rover's Arles Blue. It's soooo rare of a color on "our Toyota" - a Land Rover color !! But how can one argue that it NOT LOOK GOOD ? Particularly to the novice, who constitute just shy of 100% of the people on the streets who will compliment you, daily, on your future rebuilt vehicle. An Arles Blue FJ40, which I find looks awesome, is below. The color is most similar to Toyota's medium bluish color of Cadet Blue, although Arles is more bluish, and Cadet is more gray.

The only Arles Blue I know of (belonging to MUD member, @nick ) :

And the only Cadet Blue I know of :

I say your Coniston Green will look Great on your rig !! ~Skydog

If I'm going to be up might as well post something, don't want to wake the wife with the sound of grinders at 4am.
Put some more bracing in, just to make sure it don't move.
DSCN0528.JPG
Braced up the floor pan, before I started cutting it out. Little worried about it being so flimsy on that inside edge, while I'm working on it.
DSCN0527.JPG
Still have to cut some more out, thinking I might get some rockers bent up. Can some one tell me what those 2 longer bolts, on the upper left, go to? Coming up through the portion of floor pan I cut out. Maybe jack hold down?

Man, I got to stop and make time to clean up. Shop is looking bad.

I'm not attempting to come on this thread as an advocate for British colors, let alone Land Rover ones, over that of the native 40-Series gamet of OEM colors, which in their own way look good & attractive. it's just that, in my opinion, the British NAILED the color department (on their various vehicles). Sharp, sharp, sharp, sharp. And the hues of color, particularly the always wide range of Earth tone colors, the British assuringly applied : always appropriate & most enticing. ~Skydog

Don't tell no body but......I'm a Gear Head! Like a lot of other folks on. Hell I like Land Rovers too, Harleys, Chevy trks, Muscle Cars, Tractors, you name it. When I was in the sand box the last time, had some dealings with some British guys. I thought those Rovers were the coolest. Don't think I'd want to be in one when a IED went off, but they looked to be well built.
