I suppose he was. He never really told me directly, but always had my back if I was right and tanned the hell out of it when I was wrong.
His last breath of words to me was "I love you" then passed. I miss him a lot and ten years have past since his passing, but it still feels like yesterday on special days. I have always told my son how proud of him I am and have never held in "I love you". Something I can thank my old man for I suppose. He was a great grandfather as he mellowed with time.

Sorry man, I guess I'm still thinking of pops.....Thanks for the kind words though.

Same last words from mine... only time he ever said it... but, great to hear nonetheless. Mine never mellowed, but my daughters know my heart. Happy belated Fathers' Day!!

I installed the PS gear box after work tonight.

I finally get to join being a FJ40 owner! I picked this up this weekend and finally got the title in my name and started really looking it over.

Ill eventually being doing a frame off resto-mod. Think thats the correct terms but Ill go for mostly OEM parts but will upgrade some stuff and go after market on some stuff. Ill definitely post more when I make a thread since I will have a TON of questions.

Anyways here she is....a 1976 FJ40 that has a Chevy 283, TH350, and stock transfer case.

The PO mentioned it had brake issues but he wasnt 100% sure what they were. Well I pressed on the pedal and heard a noticeable hiss of a leak. Thankfully everything was dry except where the brake fluid leaked out of a hardline. I thought it was just a pin hole. Managed to (i think) find a replacement part so i ordered it a couple days ago and should have it Friday or Sat. Well today i had some spare time so I went ahead and decided to take that line off. Well soon as I put wrenches on and gave a light nudge the line broke off. Id been hoping ot get it started and drive it a bit to test things and create a "needs to be fixed" list before tear down. So hopefully the new line will fit and let me do that.

Well there I sit now. I promised myself I would finish up building my shed before diving much further into this project so the Shed has been getting a few hours of work every night now.

If you have the rims, $40/$50 a rim from Wide Wheels by Jerry Robbins in Calhoun, GA....or use Stockton out in CA. I believe Mr Trollhole had a set done by Jerry as well.
The number you posted on another thread for "Wide Wheels" in Calhoun results in a recording saying the number is disconnected. Would you mind confirming the number. I can not find a listing for Wide Wheels either. Thanks.

I checked, called the number and sure enough it is disconnected.....bummer!

HOWEVER, that was his home phone. I just got off the cellphone with him, and sure enough he disconnected the land line and only uses his cell phone. Also, he said he doesn't mind me posting his cell phone and appreciates any business.

Thanks

I kept poking and found a welder here in NC, about 2 hours away that will widen wheels for $75.00 each. I need to check what shipping to and from GA. will cost and compare. Is Mr. Robbins still at $45.00 a wheel?

absolutely nothing.

^^ The above is very appalling (unless you are on vacation ;) ) ^^...........Me, I've driven mine to work a few days. And I'm still working on refurbishing the hard doors!!!! Last item procured, OEM drivers side door latch/regulator. I'll post up some photos of this on my thread over the weekend.

Indeed, prepping for vacation and working to get my truck back in tip top condition. The kids are getting bigger so I needed to mount a front receiver hitch on the ole' truck to put bikes on, I didn't want them on a 4' hitch extension behind my truck camper. Packing tools, fishing gear, clothes, food, cleaning the water tanks, setting cold beers on my 40 while I rest, doing it again.......

"pngunme, post: 10437655, member: 97167"assume you got your brakes and air bags straightened out on your dually...

I managed to replace both airbags without a single issue, the biggest problem I had was the humidity.
