After long construction that's not finished yet, last week we put the roof on, so I could park 4 of FJ40's dry and out of the sun in the new 7 car garage

Sounds like you are getting ready to add to the family, Eric!!

LOL :) that's really funny Danny !!

The 40 has been neglected the last couple months due to the arrival of our son, but I got to do a little body work Friday evening. Removed the fuel door so I can transfer it to the new 1/4's.

Then, last night, my wife surprised me with a 30th B-day party at my in-laws with a bunch of friends & family and a pretty awesome cake! She's definitely a keeper!

Happy Birthday Zack!

She's a keeper alright!

I just purchased one of those die-cast FJ40s, in red of course, thanks for sharing your pics.

I put about 40 hours into disassembling, cleaning and painting the front axle.

It's surprising how much time rebuilding parts for these old trucks can take... I can't remember, anymore, how many hours I had into mine. From what I recall, it was over 1000 hours to replace the front end, rear end, floor, frame, front shock mounts, hardtop, rear hatch, hood, engine, intake, carb, starter, transmission, T-case, 4-wheel disk brakes, Rad, Lights, front fenders, seats, roll cage, mirrors, etc. I've also rebuilt the doors, suspension, and the list goes on, and on, and on.

Thanks for the kind words. It is a time consuming job to rebuild one of these rigs but it is worth it in the long run. My prep and paint method is pretty simple. I run all of the greasy bits through the parts washer, bead blast what fits in the cabinet, media blast the big parts and wire brush the little parts. Then it's a generous coat of Krylon satin black and because it's summer here I let it bake in the sun. It's been in the upper 90's F here all week.

I committed to my Mutt 40 Tube project.....

Hi Redgrrr

Love the "modified jeep" in your middle photo.

Any information about it?

Getting the Land Cruisers ready for the Black Hills Cruiser Classic. The 40 got new tube fenders and 16” ORI’s.

You actually use that?:p

Just got done burning the pallet from your old motor. I gotta get back up to S.D. One of these years. Rumor has it Greg Mumm plays the guitar too.

Replaced the stock factory hubs with warn locking hubs. Thanks franklin40 for the warns!
Used rust oleum bed liner on my wheel wells. The original white paint was looking pretty rough. Will see how long this stuff last.

Nuts! So no rubithon next week? What's the final damage? What will need to be replaced?

Carb is done, melted! Distributor is done. Plug wires, and the ignition wires. So, not too bad... but damn, super lame. Nope, missed Rubithon. I was in Oregon anyway though, at a wedding. Next year for sure. I hope the cruiser will be back up and running this weekend. I have a new carb on it, going to put the distributor on it this weekend, and then fix 3 wires. It shouldn't be too bad to get it back and going again.

P.O had the standard 2x8 square steel bumper. So ordered up a XRC winch an slapped couple pieces of plate together in an afternoon.
Scan'd some rock sliders together as well.

I'm in Nashville - love your welding and fitting skills. Love those sliders.

Glad to hear you can save it!!

Good luck!!

All the new parts arrived, (Nuts and Olives for a new FP-Carb hardline, Carter electric fuel pumps, Carter Oil Pressure Switch, etc.).

But, we're getting ready for a 3 week trip (Utah and Colorado), with the Tundra and Casita Trailer... so, I bent the new line and reinstalled the oem pump that I removed, while off-road... she fired right up and sounds really lovely!!

I had her purring and was going to take her out for a drive, when Dianna came running into the garage and said, "they're fighting next door!! It sounds really bad!! I called 911!!".

I don't want to get into all the details of the long winded statement I had to write for the police. But, the gist of it is that 3 guys pistol-whipped the 20-something girl next door, asking for drugs and money. She has a propensity for bringing riff raff home with her... she says she didn't know them, but they pulled into the driveway right behind her. She works in some part of the 'pleasure' industry...

When I saw them driving off inan SUV, I flagged a cop outside our gate and pointed at them... he took off after them, with lights and siren and I started home (100') and heard 3 gunshots... then I heard the neighbor girl screaming, "please help me!". I ran back and found her in her 'over the back fence' neighbor's yard... she was wearing white pants and black bra and was covered in blood (she was high on something, perhaps only adrenaline). I got the neighbor to open his door and assured him the gentlemen were gone. I assured the girl they were gone and, after asking several times, I learned her twin daughters were at grandma's. Whew!!

She said, "They pistol-whipped her and kept asking for the drugs and money"...

The gentlemen crashed the SUV (turned out to be stolen) about a mile away and fled on foot... the cops caught one and the other two carjacked a landscaper's GMC pickup WITH TRAILER and slipped away... Here's the article Police officer shot at in NLV, suspect in custody

So, I haven't taken 44 on the highway yet... this is why I always keep a loaded gun handy, in the garage... and everywhere else...

I'll install the 'lectric stuff after we get back home, from Colorado.

No pictures of 44, but I have this picture... a Carter Oil Pressure Switch that came in a little white box, inside a bigger Carter box, inside andbigger box, with lots of airbag padding.

It was like 4 presents in one!!
