Decided to swap out my scary old Saginaw 2.5 turn box for a 4.25 turn. I've put up with the freaky steering manners for about 12 years but driving in a recent wind storm finally scared me enough to swap it.

While searching at the local auto parts stores, it became apparent that the 4 turn boxes are getting hard to come by. I found that although many list them online, they are actually out of stock if they check. I ended up getting one from Napa that said it was a 3 7/16 turn out of a late 60's Chevy car. 4 bolt.

Was pleased when I went to install and got 4.25 rotations lock to lock. It is amazing how much it's steering manners have improved. Just need a slightly shorter pitman arm and it will be perfect!

I had good luck finding 4-turn boxes using a 1976 Jeep J20 pickup as the vehicle search model. I listed the part number somewhere but I've bought two boxes using this reference vehicle and ended up with a 4.25 turn box both times.

Have been wanting to get this app hooked up to my mighty 2f for a while. With I have TBI on my motor, and their is this app called aldl droid that allows you to plug a bluetooth into the diag port so you can monitor the ecu data live. It also uses gps for speed and altitude and all kinds of stuff. I am still exploring the app. Now I can use a tablet to monitor what's going on...

Put on some new springs. More lift than I anticipated but that's ok because after I get it inspected I'll be pulling some leaves to soften up the ride. It'll probably settle in a bit at the yearly "snow attack" meeting at the end of the month.

Nothing exotic or worth pictures - replaced the clutch master cylinder in my '76 FJ40 with a new Aisin part. I do have to admit the Smurf blue color catches your eye! The one I replaced was one I installed about 15 years ago, and it was a used one from an earlier model FJ40, so I guess I've been lucky over the years. I should have replaced the master cylinder a while back as soon as I bought it from SOR - more than 10 years ago. It finally went out this week, leaking brake fluid down the inside of the firewall, but luckily it was in my driveway. Lesson lerned here - don't let things go to the point you could get stranded, the clutch definitely falls in that category.

Orders u-joint, painted rear bumper and bumperetts, replaced rear brake lenses, had radiator pin hole fixed and reinstalled radiator, tracked down the vacuum lines (5 total) between vacuum switching unit and other ends of lines. Saturday I'll pull the carb and send to Jim C. for it's first overhaul.

Drove that s***! Finally!

Received a few electrical parts which I purchased from @Coolerman to safely complete the spaghetti bowl of wiring for my overhead console

Bought a new sub fuse block to provide power to the overhead console, it will be located adjacent to the front heater.

All electrical connections complete, currently testing and finalizing installation of the new sub fuse box, and also a pic of the topside of the console thru windshield

As soon as the electrical connections check OK the console will be installed

Watched mine sit in the driveway , lightly coated in snow ...it's been well below zero here for a week or so and now the temps are coming back up a bit - but the roads are wet with moisture and salt . I won't take it out until it's at least dry and that coating of salt is blown or washed off - way too much rusting already .

Have I mentioned how much I hate Illinois ?

Sarge

Filled it up with Stabil and Gas, and parked it for the winter. The roads officially got salted here yesterday in preparation for the inbound blizzard, so my truck is mothballed until spring. I don't have a ton of rust holes in it, but I also don't have a ton of paint...so I do what I can to keep the cancer from spreading!

A few very minor projects planned this winter - new temperature sending unit in the correct passage, etc. but mostly just biding time and saving pennies for the driveline pull/overhaul this summer.
