Did some exploring in my new 100. Before heading out for the day I replaced the heater t’s in the hotel parking lot. Ran perfect but the desert terrain and 110+ degree heat was too much for the old tires. I did well over a hundred miles off pavement. 30 miles from the closest road the tire came apart. I was in a pretty remote area of kofa wildlife refuge. Fortunately the tool kit and spare were all in place and accounted for unlike my last two 100s. I was in a sketchy spot when the tire went so even with the bottle jack fully maxed out I actually had to dig a hole with a rock to get the inflated tire mounted.

Getting the Cruiser sorted before our trip in 2 weeks. New, stainless steel heater T's and new Oem hoses secured with Gates Powergrip clamps on the T's and reused the original clamps at the other ends. The mountains of Colorado and the deserts of Nevada are sure to test our coolant system. One less thing to worry about. I had replaced one heater hose T that blew after my body lift and even using the old hose that fit loosely on the steel T and was deeply indented from the original clamps the Gates Powergrips held firm and didn't leak a drop. Big fan of them now.

Slid the AMEX into the chip reader to pay the Stealership for:

150k maintenance
Timing belt/h2o pump
A/C drain line fix
New winshield
Misc trim seals

And new tires at tire place.

Did the LC to LX cabin air filter mod...much easier than expected...and it allowed me to clean out the evaporator a bit...

I’ve been on IH8MUD for a while, even before I found the right LC, but this is my first post. Found a beautifully cared for 2000 Toyota Land Cruiser in Sept. 2017 and started my build. This weekend I get to address the spinning key problem. If you aren’t familiar with it, look it up and do it as a PM. We are camping in the Trinity Lake area of CA and luckily we were back in camp when this happened. If it happened the day before on the trail, I would have been royally screwed. No flatbed would ever have been able to get to us. I currently have the front seat removed (for access) the lower dash, the ignition and the broken rod (a known inferior part). Waiting for the replacement part so that I can put it all back together again. Thank you to all the members that have posted, not just about this and how to fix it, but all the other helpful posts. You are lifesavers and you make working on a vehicle fun again.

Had a shuttle company owner drive it 15 miles downstream on the Delaware. It's always nice to see your truck where you paid someone to leave it! Once I loaded the kayak and was on my way, he chatted me up about how much he loved driving it.

My bro-in-law’s dealership installed OME 2865’s, new OEM shocks, replaced rear caliper assembly, rotors and pads, and cranked torsion bar for a 1” rake back-to-front, and other basic service. Going to hit 200k in 23 more miles on my 1999 LC...feel like I’ve got another 300k to go.
That suspension combo is going to ride as good if not better than stock - wise choice.

Let us know what you think.

I know it doesn't have the drama of exploding heater ts, but I found the front Assist Your Butt Into the Seat Handles, or AYBISH (yes, that is the technical name) were loose. Amazingly, I managed to complete the repair in under an hour! A first for me!

Last week I parked my 100 series in the garage and loaded up the Odyssey for our annual Florida trip.

One of the best things about driving is car spotting. Anyone else point out to your spouse every single 100 series you see?

I went out for my morning run while on vacation. Took photos of some of the cool trucks I saw. I live in Illinois and can go months without seeing a 100 series. Relive 'Morning Run'

I also ran into the Florida Tacoma New Smyrna Beach meet-up.

Pretty fun to see so many Toyotas. New Smyrna Beach Meet 2018

Finally got the body lift in on Saturday, all new body mounts too. I haven't sorted out the steering shaft extension or radiator relocation yet but the interior is all back together now so that feels good. Hopefully no more scrubbing from the 35s now. Bolted in some new headlights too, just have to get some LED globes for them now...
Time to update my sig now too ;)

Been wanting to do the roof rack delete ever since seeing @ikarus

But.. Have been using the factory rack more than ever. Mostly because I have 4 car seats and sometimes stuff just has to go on top.

This is as close as I'll get to an aftermarket roof rack - at least for the time being:

Was pleased with how easy it mounted up!

Even cleared the rear spoiler!

And after seeing what a few others on the forum recommended with their Gamaviti I decided to go with the 1/2 grid as well.

Ha!
