The BIG jobs were done this past week. Wish I had more photos to document, but I got distracted.....

1. Replaced both CV Axles (steering vibration completely gone now...ZERO grease in the old CVs and boots had big tears in them). Replaced all attachment hardware with new OEM claw, star and lock washers, dust caps and regreased the hub bearings.

2. Replaced both front rotors and pads (one of the bolts on the passenger caliper had been cross-threaded by the previous owner...now I know how to fix that at least...after HOURS of cussing and a beer)

3. Replaced the steering rack bushings (NEVER going to do that again...but, the clunk I would feel off-road is gone and what I thought were my AHC shocks "giving" up turns out to be just the steering rack banging around on worn out bushings. Rides so smooth again. No more jarring over expansion joints....worth a look if you think your shocks are going out because they jar over those joints)

Then, I went out and did 130 miles of gravel in Mason county TX.....spent the night on my family's land and tested out the KISS drawers in a sleeping arrangement.

Thanks Dw- Im about to replace all the cooling system rubber hoses on my 180k service, and contemplated new vs. re-using the factory spring clamps. The cost of new spring clamps is probably upward of $100 for everything, kind of pricey for clamps.

do radiator too, if you haven't already...

The clamps for my wife’s 4Runner, top and bottom radiator hoses were $3.99 each from parts.fredandersontoyota.com.
Part #90467-37005. Online, it said the part numbers were incorrect for the 4Runner, but counter sales guy confirmed it was correct.

I just really like the spring clamps. Hard to swallow big money for clamps, so I will replace if I find leaks, which is why the 4Runner got new.

Did my heater T's today. The clamps were all facing the fire wall but with some bent pliers it was easy. The old T's came out smoothly and looked new so I'm wondering if they were done at some point. I'm at 167k miles bought it with 158k, the PO took it to the dealership for everything.

@geanes is this part of the Hill Country Trail? Thinking of going out Saturday and running a part of it off Hwy 16 back to Marble Falls. Looks like a couple water crossings along that portion of the trail.

Not familiar with the Hill Country Trail. My route does cover CRs 105/106/109 in Llano County, Threadgill Creek, Geistweidt, Salt Branch, James River Rds in Mason among many others.

replaced subwoofer with the $12 Pyle one off of amazon. better than the torn one but still not great.
Will do speakers on Friday. I had a green wire rather than a blue. RED and Black went to negative.

Got my truck back from the bodyshop (rear bumper was replaced with new OEM). Then went to the exhaust shop and had a resonator and tailpipe (with stock exit location) to welded to my Doug Thorley catback to cut down on the drone... Driving my mom's '14 LX for the days it was in the shop made me realize how much I missed a quieter exhaust!

Dare I say, the exhaust note outside the truck is now louder than the Borla system, but quieter than it inside the cabin with VERY minimal drone! It has a tighter sound with less burble at idle but still sounds wonderful when you floor it. Day-to-day driving especially in the city is much more enjoyable now.
