My windshield was cracked and needed replacement. There was also rust coming from underneath the window. This was the perfect time to fix that.

Instead of pop rivets a previous owner used simple wood screws to secure the side molding. This caused rust on the A-pillars. There was also rust on the roof coming from the windshield.

With the windshield out I used a rotary wire brush to remove all the glue and paint. I used a flap disc to clean up the bad rust.

When all the rust was gone and there was only clean metal left I degreased the surface and brushed on some rust protection.

There was also rust on visible places. Tomorrow I'll be sanding and spraying on the Toyota 1B1 Champagne Pearl, clearcoat the day after that.

Heres a pic of the rustproofing:

I liked my STT Pro a lot. My only complaint is that the white letters didn’t clean up as easy as BFG’s. Otherwise it’s a great tire. I have ran them for 6k miles and they still look brand new. My wife didn’t care for the pro look so it was just an opportunity to get new tires again. I had to do it

Thanks-

Now that you have run the K02 back to back with the STT Pros, Im mostly wondering about road manners, noise difference, handling difference etc (if you dont mind).

I didn’t really notice a difference in road handling. The STT Pro is definitely a MT tire compared to the ko2. Has a little hum to it. Never really bother me much though.

Thank!! Not paint - plastidip. And has held up well. Color is Anthracite Gray and matches the gray lower body color in a lot of our trucks. Followed up with a “glossifier” coat. Very easy to do. All on YouTube.

Ahhhhhh...the anthracite and glossifier make all the difference! Thanks for sharing.

I just sold the BFG ATs that I’ve had on mine for 3 years and replaced them with the ST Maxx. This is my 3rd set of ST Maxxs as I run them on my diesel truck as well. One of my friends runs the STTs on his diesel which is the twin to mine. The ST Maxx are noticeably quieter than the STT, and give up very little in the traction dept. There is almost no difference to my ear from the BFGs to the ST Maxx. The Coopers are 100x better in rain though.

New plates and new tundra wheels powder coated Bronze wheels with 35” ko2’s . I need to find a better color match for the center caps, but not bad for now. Ps. My Cooper STT Pro are for sale in the classifieds. Only 6k miles on them.

Looks killer!

I've been interested in running a 35" BFG but have been worried that 12.5" is too wide a tire to fit without rubbing in the front with articulation. Interested to see how much if any rubbing you get on the upper control arms and frame rails with the offset of those tundra wheels and if you can mitigate some or all of it by adjusting the turn stops.

Oil change. And got all of the parts I need for the sway bar links, some tailgate struts too. Snowed 6 inches here on Christmas . Ko2s have been great in all conditions except ice . After driving them around in a couple of different snowstorms in a couple of different conditions I recommend them. I will hold off on dedicated snow tires.

Edit: subzero temps everything still working

I have had some inconsistent, and minimal coolant seepage coming from the water pump area for about a year or so, I'm talking like maybe a cup of coolant missing at most from overflow reservoir over a few month period and some drops forming on the bottom side of the a.c. condenser. I wasn't really to worried about it. I knew the timing belt had been changed once prior to me buying the truck in 2014, but visibly the fan bracket and what I could see of the water pump looked original.
Took me a bit, but over two partial days replaced the thermostat, water pump, timing belt, tensioner, and associated pulleys, fan bracket and coolant. Ran into a hiccup with some of the electrical connections not being fully seated upon reassembly. But all is good now.

Water pump looked like s*** inside. Probably will do a coolant system flush, and fresh coolant again this spring.

Yesterday I sprayed the first basecoat. Today I sprayed the second basecoat of the 1B1 colour.

Yesterday I masket quite close to the edge of my repair work. If you spray up to the masking tape there will be an edge.

Today I used some scotchbrite to get rid of the edge and placed my masking tape about 10cm/4in further from the repaired area.

I then sprayed up to where the old edge was to "blend" the paint.

For this work I use a small HVLP gravity fed spray gun on about 1.9bar/28psi at 20cm/8in distance. Fan pattern about 12cm/5in.

Tomorrow is clearcoat day.

Here's the result so far:
