I finally took care of my OWN damn console :flipoff2:

I grabbed some adhesive backed felt and covered the vertical walls of the upper console with felt. Loving the look.

Plus it just gave me yet another idea for a little product ;)

Went to the Mad Max:Fury Road premier last night. I led a convoy of other vehicles stylized like road warrior cars to the local theatre. My bikes were in the lobby, and my buggy was on the sidewalk out front. The Mrs. and I got dressed up with friends and had a great night.

Got stuck for real for the first time. After a failed recovery attempt from the rear from some real nice guys in a Jeep, I eventually got out by driving down the side of the road with two tires in the ditch and two out until I reached firmer ground, sustaining only a dented rear quarter panel. When I was talking to the park attendant, he said somebody had done the exact same thing in a 2015 Land Cruiser in January (being rural Indiana, I've seen three other Land Cruisers in the past year, so this was pretty surprising). I'm sure he was a lot more upset with the inevitable body damage then I was!

Did 1 side of my axle rebuild I been putting off for 2 years... Funny is that it looked like it had been done 6 months ago. Oh well.. Now I know!

@Dr Gil came by this morning. He wanted to change the connector to his new ARB fridge. So I made him a new cable with an SB50 Anderson connector. Then I popped the mating connector out of the side panel and attached with some VHB.

Then a 2004 LC100 came buy for a few hours so that I could take some measurements of the console. I have ideas aplenty ;)

Started a drawer/ sleeping platform build. Tube is 1/2 x 1/2 .065 wall. The drawers will be framed in a like manner and covered with 20ga. The top of each drawer will be hinged and have a frame covered in 18ga. sitting on a ledge all the way around. As it is right now, with a piece of 20ga on top it will hold my 228lb person without any movement or distortion. I figured it wouldn't be strong enough after I picked up my metal order, was thiking 3/4 square and ordered 1/2 square because everything needed cut in half which made me say 1/2 when he asked what type of square tube LOL. Yeah. Anyway, I will keep you guys updated

Damn he does clean work!! His Wit's End products are just like his clean work too.

Your implicit, subtle implication of my Gheyness is probably correct.

;)

I am getting older and getting into older vehicles, vehicles that provide me with a simple satisfaction of wrenching and work.

That being said, the 80 series has been by far the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. Bar none.

It is epic in every manner. It is the penultimate Toyota wagon; it is the finest example of the pinnacle of Toyota engineering for its time.

My 80 did everything I ever asked it to do and everything I never asked it to do. I almost died in it, I almost procreated because of it.

It allowed me to be the "beno" I am today.

It allowed me to be authentic with the world.

It allowed me to meet CDan;

It allowed me to meet some of the best people across the U.S.;

It allowed me to traverse some of the most epic terrain in North America;

It made my bones.

And for all of that I am grateful to my 80 series.

but it wasn't able to find the entry to the Lockhart Trail :flipoff2:

Got new number plates, finally installed @LandCruiserPhil 's disconnects, new heavy duty 32mm sway bar and cromo tie rod :D, installed dual battery meter, ordered AOE winch bar :cool:

Took my son fishing in the 80. Added benefit of installing the sleeping platform is that it's much easier for my 4'10" son to reach his own tackle bag in the back of the 80.

Also drove it to pick up Starbucks. Has anyone else noticed that there aren't enough cupholders in the 80? I wish there was a solution... :flipoff:

Did someone say cupholders?
