Returned from the first "long" trip since the HG job. About 650 miles total down to the Texas Hill Country and back to Dallas, providing some post-op care for my father-in-law after his heart surgery. It was a beautiful time to be in the Hill...
Exercising the factory lockers on a rare patch of dirt in LA... right next to an LAX runway. One of the busiest airports on the planet. @midfat for the W.
😂
Decided the play dress up and ditch the side steps. Not sure how long it will last with two little ones getting up and down, but I like the way it looks.
Spent like 2 hrs underneath her inspecting and torquing key nuts-n-bolts after 3rs of washboard driving last weekend. Wits-End nut huggers provided peace of mind. All dialed in….ready for whatever is next.
Knuckle rebuild. I started with the hard side first, p/o welded the high steer bracket to the front of the steering arm and welded a gusset to the back side making it impossible to service, 20 minutes with a grinder later and I’m halfway home...

This was last weekend but a weekend none the less. Finally got round to replacing the cooling system along with a new Koyorad radiator. Pressurized the system make sure everything was good. Well pissed off.
I had bought the radiator back in Feb...
On second thought now that I think about it....your rig is basically junk so I want to be charitable and offer you $200 for it 🤡😜😁. You should keep it forever...that's what I am going to do. 👍😊
It doesn't say why it was a total loss? Just could be at that time they thought fixing whatever it was wasn't worth it...parts could be expensive. I found the same thing out about my CE but I don't care at all. I can't figure out why they would...
Hey, thanks for the response. I think you are exactly right. I think this was an insurance play. They called it very minor damage and on the same day they labeled total loss. I was under the rig today and inspected throughly and cannot find any...
It's not just the engine, it's mostly how it's put in. It can be an excellent result or it can be pretty terrible. Depends on the approach.
I feel it makes a great vehicle. Toyota diesels don't do much for me.
As a general overview, yes, a 5.9...
Wow just found out that my ‘ol girl has had a history….but would have never noticed (inside or out) until I considered letting her go. How I actually acquired it is a bit of a story in itself. But seems she’s been poured out.
Ran her over 700...
Camping out in Bloomington IN at my brother’s place waiting for the eclipse Monday afternoon. It’s the first night out with the awning recycled from the wrecked 80, the rebuilt sleeper drawer system, and the Kelty Backroads shelter.
….drove another ~200 miles into NM sacaramento mnts through some rocky desert to experience completely different topography and weather. Boon-docking yet at another undeveloped property.
Camping out on 10 acres in W. Texas land I bought from a fellow mudder for dirt cheap:). Blue Origin bout 20 min away and Monday drive towards Dallas for another spectacular total eclipse… stoked.
These are my RPMs with 4.88s running 295x75x16 Nittos with Lutz speedometer calibrator. No speed demon but boy does it feel better than when I was running stock gears with these heavy tires. My thought is if I go 315 or bigger I can adjust at the...
This was a missed opportunity for TFL to show a little more depth. TFL owns the truck. They could have either worked with Toyota or ideally stripped it down themselves and pulled the diff apart to show exactly what if anything was broken...
