That wilson booster seems like a lot of effort when you can get a Sat hookup for normal cell phones for cheap nowadays.

Phil - Yes, not sure of the weight, but its a beast and that's what I wanted... The tire carrier probably weighs as much as the bumper assembly and I would venture that it probably weighs more than any other I've seen...

Yeah I know how that is. I actually ordered a wall charger for mine so I can take it indoors, if needed, too. I mean how can someone sham on the mud if their phone isn't getting service!?
I don't know about sat hook ups so can't speak to them. The booster is literally two antennas/coax and a power cable that goes to the cig lighter... lol not sure how that could be considered a lot of effort?
I got a smog check. Passed with a good margin. All original everything at 197K
I had the timing advanced for the last couple of months and reset it to factory for the test. I notice the power loss back at the factory setting. I think I'm going to experiment with 91 octane and more advance now.
Now that I have a couple of years till next smog I'm going to start collecting the bits to turbo it.

For me it's just too much gear to haul around or have set up in the rig while driving. I have the Delorme InReach and it works great and fits in the armrest. It does have a $11.99 a month plan that goes with it but there is no contact so I only activate it when I'm headed somewhere remote.

You've definitely got my interest on this. Yeah I have the external antenna and the power cabling always ran. Just tucked away. The internal antenna and the unit itself I just keep locked in the glove box. Total setup time: two minutes. So it's bad.
Dug and scraped a truly ridiculous amount of mud out of my rear brakes, replaced the e-brake shoes and installed new plugs. Thanks Beno! You rock!

Had to remove the belt trim for the vinyl wrap last year. Put the belt trim back on a year later, after I got the one small piece I lost from G&S Cruisers.
