the tree of hell we pulled out with the Blazer flew right over the truck  (some years ago)

Step kids and brother in law had fun climbing on the roof during our attempt to find off-road trails. No luck though. Seems all the roads that led to them are closed right now. Stupid flooding.

That's in/near Austin?
I wish. Vacationing in Colorado Springs at the moment. Enjoying the cool temps before we head back to the heat in a few days.

What front bumper is that?
Not sure, it was on it in its past form when I bought it and I modded it like it is one (in my build thread)

Thought it looked a lot more like Colo. than Austin!

Finally got the speedo working (2 VSS's and 3 Speedo's later.) Now every single thing in the dash works, that's a nice feeling and a first since I bought it 6mos ago.

Installed a new Hayden fan clutch. Its a little better on the temps but still overheats pulling a hard hill on a hot day w/AC on. 20k CST is ordered and a stock fan clutch rebuild is in my future. Also contemplating hood vents.

Worked on restoring the rear end: Abrasive blasted and painted the hitch, painted the rear bumper and side bumpers. Also repacked rear bearings and fixed the e-break.

Decided since my 8 and 10 year old girls don't smoke:smokin: I'd take this:

And Since their idea of a day in the Land Cruiser is an Ipad :bang: and other devices I'd Make this:

Phil -

Any info on the new mount or some pics of how you did the base? This is on my list -

Thanks,

John

It started as a Jotto mount for my netbook.

I welded a small flange on the bottom stem and modified the inside of the stem to accept a long bolt. The flange (~2.5" dia.)sets on top of the sheet metal cross beam and is bolted from the top of the stem through the floor. The mount ends up being stealth with no visual on how it mounts. It been super solid with zero vibs on any road for the last couple years.

I can post more pics if you want later. LMK

Phil,

Thanks and yes - I'm a visual guy so any pics of the mount at the floor would be very helpful.

Best,

J

I was teaching my 14 yr old son how to attach straps / chains and how to pull so that doesn't happen! (Plus, :princess: was watching, so we couldn't get too carried away.....;)

^^^^ nothing like pulling a tree with the LC rather than spending a half hour digging, I've done several that way too.

Took the 80 to the nearly finished rails to trails that goes by the neighborhood I live in, short ride with the kiddo along.

Did the diff/tcase fluids this weekend with no drama. Thankfully, those infamous plugs gave me no trouble. Just used a box end wrench. Makes me think that people just tend to over torque these things...

I kept both differential drain plugs because there is a hell of a lot more magnet on those than the new hex plugs I used everywhere else. The little gear oil pump that screws onto the bottle is a real life saver too.
