Finally got around to installing some frame reinforcements along with a fzj105 steering box courtesy of @Delta VS and @cruisermatt …
Deep clean and decided to remove the flares as the last trip there were angry trees on the trail…..

New Depot eyeballs. Had Eagle Eyes, but prefer the more OEM look.
If anyone has interest in buying a lightly used set of Eagle Eyes send me a PM (2nd & 3rd photos below). As many of you know, the Eagle Eyes are not wired correctly from the factory and require some minor rewiring in order to work. I have corrected these and are made to be “plug & play” to connect to the Slee upgraded headlight harness and work great.

I was thinking the same thing.
My guess is they probably use salt on the roads during the winter there and he doesn’t want to turn the 80 into a rust bucket.
Snow wheeling is amazing but salt isn’t!
Oh no... Buy a pressure washer and clean the under carriage.
That's what basic vehicle maintenance is for. Pressure wash the under carriage.

If you have never dealt with salt and calcium drenched roads then none of you know what your talking about.
Secondly I live next to the North Atlantic Ocean so it’s in the air also when we get our winter winds.
Thirdly I have a 5th gen 4Runner as my winter toy/DD.
If you think battling rust is a routine maintenance item you really don’t know much.
Pressure washing drives it in deeper, the liquid salt gets into every panel seam and cavity.

I want to enjoy it without battling rust, it’s that simple.
Your also making assumptions.
In the USA you can buy another 80 series easily. We never got the 80’s in Canada, only the LX450 and I don’t like them with all the body cladding.
Going across the boarder and purchasing another 80 and dealing with the extra expenses is not something I want to do again.
But do you drive your machine in salty water 7 months of the year experiencing freeze thaw cycles?

I do worry about rust on my trucks, but it doesn't stop me from using them. They both go on the beach and both go snow wheeling, i just try to be smart about it. I try to wash them thoroughly after exposure, before everything can dry and crystallize. I try not to drive at speed for long distances on salt/ calcium/ magnesium treated roads to avoid driving the junk in to all the nooks and crannies (I'll trailer to a location of needed). And finally i frame flush a couple of times a year. So far, so good.
And apparently we need to declare our "s***ty winter road cred". 9 years in Canada checking in.
