For anyone interested here is the difference between a normal 80 lower steering column and an HDJ81 column. The 81 has the funky power assist/idle up solenoid so that makes for a shorter shaft.

Cheers

Agree. Especially for that price
If it went in front somewhere I might be interested as my transmission works hard. I’ve already put a 17 gallon water tank where my spare used to be. Just having an auxiliary cooler there isn’t a great use of that large space.

Went to change the spark plugs and plug #1 looks a little different. Anyone have thoughts on what’s going on there? Funny deposit on it. Also the threads look a little different. Didn’t seem like it was any looser than the other 5. The rest of the plugs look normal to me. Truck has 287k and plugs have 22k in them. 1F-Z motor.

DId you have to modify it to fit or are they making these for left had drive 80s now?
I had to make the small modification to the front door armrests because these are still made for the 70 series. It’s very easy to do. This video covers the mod in detail.

If plug #1 is the first two pics, that cylinder is burning some oil based on the ash and the black on the end of the plug. Looks like a ton of anti-seize on the threads that could be interfering with the grounding of the plug to the head and it's not arcing as efficiently as it should.

Clean off any anti-seize before installing.

Good input, thanks man!
