Swapped out the front calipers from crusty O'Reilly calipers to new OEM. The old ones were installed a few years ago and at the time went with O'Reilly because @cruiserinsanity was working there and we could get a major employee discount.

Used a Motive cap and handheld garden sprayer to pressure bleed the brakes.

I hope you got some fresh paint on that shock mount.

New OME 2.5” lift with Icon 2.0 shocks and Slee front and rear sway bar drop kits with new bushings all around on my buddies Collector edition 94.
Broke 2 drop bracket bolts had to drill.
Passenger rear top shock plates on wrong sides from a previous repair and rusted. Had to brake out the saws-all.
To top it off, icon shipped one shock without hardware in the box!
Only pics I have is aftermath of half my tools used for this job as we were sweating and swearing most of the day!
Got it done tho!

My garage hasn't look that organized for the last 6 months to two years!

Per “FSM instructions”?
Factory Service Manual is very specific about where and what adhesive is used. Most glass shops get it wrong.

When for a nice ride in the country, stopped at a old store and found this knife. For $20.00 I bought it

I guess this would qualify for over the weekend as Scott and the crew at Higgy's Cruisers had it over the weekend tracked down and fixed an issue I had with the AC .

Thursday morning I went to turn the AC on, with no luck. To me it seemed like an electrical issue as the compressor would not cycle on. Scott and the crew checked over everything and it ended up being the actual AC switch inside the cab.

Today it is going back in as here is a electrical short, hearing a cracking noise through the speakers and the stereo cuts in and out, I am assuming just a loose connection that occurred when they had the dash apart.

They are also going to replace the main 3 radiator hoses, thermostat, related gaskets, and radiator cap.

I just got back into an 80 and man did I miss it started on the front bumper!

I love it, starting on the most important stuff first 🤣. I'm excited to see your bumper when it is finished.

Getting this axle back under this HDJ81. Original housing was bent so we replaced it with a new one but are also doing some fab to get things just how we want.

After 15 years it was time to do the LCA bushings. These are my original Slee arms that I cut in half back then, welded an inner ID tube with 3/8” lengthening for the OG longer LCA style, and then sleeved 1/8” wall DOM to seal it all up. So they will survive the war.

I’ve always been careful to not go nuts on rear travel and this is the bushing pressed out. They did need to be replaced because rubber ages, but this is impressive given the abuse they have taken.

All shiny and still bombproof new.

Was also TRE time - draglink is relatively new, these also go back 13 years. I managed to tear a boot on one last year and have been meaning to do it. The old were still in good shape with life on 37”+ tires, although on the tierod they don’t take much abuse unless you manage to do it yourself on the trail.

13 years 150K miles.

IMG_6451.jpeg

Old style without a wrench surface to hold the tube in place for loosening and tightening. Some fancy tape with a vice grip works to not scratch it. Also didn’t cost $219 for a piece of threaded DOM.

And double check toe alignment with a telescoping mop rod. 1/8” toe in on a 38” tire, steering wheel centered, back in business.

How do you use the telescoping rod to check toe? The measurement from tire to tire in the rear is 1/8” more than in the front?

Yep! I waited two days for everything to set up before cleaning up the cowl and fender where the snorkel was mounted. I thought I might as well test the work before the cowl cover went back on. I turned the hose on low and let the water trickle over the windshield…… Leak!!!
Had the company come back out today but as soon as he showed up, the unpredictable middle Tennessee weather showed up and it started storming. He’ll be back in the am to finish the work. I told the company if it’s not right after this then they can remove their glass and I’ll have another one come out and do it.

Hard to see in the pic but water was dripping down pretty steadily.
