What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend? (107 Viewers)

Doesn’t look much different than it did when I posted it last time.. A few months back I purchased a engine, trans and tcase from a clean 96 that had been wrecked. Prior to the wreck the rebuilt motor had only 50k miles (212k odo). Transmission was rebuilt in 2017. This along with the other $3200 of parts I’ve collected over the past year just been sitting in the garage. Finally got around to pulling the 80 up to the garage and removed the original trans, tcase and driveshafts to swap the gear from the other 80. Besides the lack of experience and living 5 hrs away from the vehicle I’m beginning to understand this stuff just takes time! Whether is buying all your parts or getting it together and sorted out.. honestly don’t get how people have the patience for it, I’m halfway tempted to tell someone make me an offer and get it all 😆

@eimkeith makes these weld in radius arm drop mounts. I am very impressed with his work. I think his pan hard brackets are going to be my next project.
Thanks for posting this. I really like his design and may really consider going this route up front. Amazing all the things out there mud members are doing I can seem to find. Dave at Delta has ignored my question about making a special 4" with 1" extension for 37' s lol, so guessing I have to go another route to remedy the rub,

I have a laundry list of things to get done before spring that I've been putting off. Not as daunting as your list, but definitely takes time and patience. Oh, and I like your style:

No problem, I am happy to give back to the community.

Check out this thread, I detailed the process for anyone interested.

At this point I think you're pretty much destined to own an 80. Get 'er back together and keep on truckin'.

Nice. Guessing I don't want to run these with castor correcting radius arms though. I like the idea of moving the axle forward.
Depends on how much lift you have.

One step at a time and don't give up. You'll get there eventually.
