Looks great. I used por15 when I did mine last year. Its holding up very . What did you use.

I have used POR15 a lot but for engines, I been using this for awhile with great results.

Of course, it’s more about the prep in my opinion than product used. Still, this stuff is quality vs your auto parts store or Home Depot paint. 😁

Cheers

Spamming the thread but with these new engine pics. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Who doesn’t like this though!? 😝

Takes a lot of prep but we are now starting assembly. Engine will be sealed up by the end of tomorrow to the head.

This particular 1fzfe was burning a lot of oil, #2 was the worst for that. A fair amount of BEB shavings-chunks in the pan on tear down too. Turns out six of the twelve exhaust valves were toast too, we got all new OEM exhaust valves for it. Engine had a touch over 200,000k on it with what looks like marginal maintenance.

Should be pretty stellar when done. 😎

Cheers

Said goodbye to my 80 this weekend. Got rear ended by someone going around 70 while I was practically stopped. My 80 may be done for but I walked away fine! Gonna miss it for sure! View attachment 2514796View attachment 2514793
Damn..... If I got rear ended and my rig looked that bad I guarantee I would have gone to the hospital and hired an attorney. You experienced some serious forces in that wreck. You might be fine now but who knows down the road. The amount of force required to bend your truck like that is unbelievable, you are very lucky.

Where did the rear crossmember go?

Between school and covid-19 testing at work I have been super busy and I haven't posted much lately. But, I have got out to do some exploring and hunting a few times and I got new rubber this morning.

Turkey with a lever action .22 ??....you are an old school bad ass, amigo.

First time with those Nittos? Sure look good.

Used the Toyo M/T’s before or just A/T’s?

What part-time kit did you use?
Thx

Yeah I went to the hospital after I got home in the rental car. Took X-rays and a CT got the all clear from the doc for now but they still want me to follow up with a spine specialist in a few weeks. Honestly feeling pretty good now all things considered. Just glad I had my 80 to protect me!

Wow, that's sad to see but I'm glad you're okay. I'm sure you're feeling some pain today though. My wife and I were rear ended at a stop light a little over a year from now (in our smaller car). It didn't seem bad but I had a little pain in my back and neck after it happened. The next day it was killing me. Turns out I got nerve damage in my S1. I'm still dealing with pain in my lower back, and sometimes my neck, every single day. Even after 8 months of PT, injections, and Acupuncture. Hoping you don't experience the same thing.

That sucks, glad you could walk away. Do keep us updated on the process with their insurance. Based on some other threads I read up on around here it seems like you might have an uphill battle with the value of the truck.

Started cutting the lower quarters to replace some rusted out areas. For being a mid-Atlantic truck and the way they salt the fk out of the roads it’s not as bad as I’d expected.

Haha, I love my marlin golden. Utah opened up the fall turkey hunt to rimfire, I am amazed how well a .22 cci stinger works on a gobbler.

I have ran a set of these same nittos on my last fj80 in the same size and I loved them. The toyos I replaced were the hybrid open country rt's. I was not very pleased with them.

This rig already had the part time installed when I got it but I believe it is a marlin crawler kit.
