Based on the temp to release, do you think a heat gun and sparkle knife would work?
Perhaps. First time for me so i think the oven @ 270 for 8 minutes was easy to work. For an even release id assume the oven is best. I had plastic trim tools out to use but a fat flat head screw driver was the go to.

The WFH routine has been a bit of a change for the LX. It went from getting 2K miles a month as a DD, to now getting started once a week to keep it lubed and charge the battery :(.

Working now on little bits I've been putting off in the interior. Today was installing strips of L-Track in the cargo area so I have a place to tie off propane canisters.

MINGLES!
that thing is awesome! Beauty box!
That rubber on top reminds me of the floor grip I used to stand on all night at my restaurant job, nicely purposed

Built a spare tire carrier today. Copied a design I saw in here a while back, and tweaked it for my needs and to fit a 37”. Now I just need to remount my new spare on a wheel to fit the 80

Worked on my Dad's recently neglected 80... Been sitting in his driveway ever since he got his lx470 a year ago.... Swapped out all dry rotted rubber couplings for supercharger unit with silicone ones plus added some T style house clamps... All new vacuum hoses...Swapped out the oem (Denso) spark plugs for some colder ones (NGKs) too...Just need to put in the new supercharger serpentine belt.. Made this little tool today from a grinded down 15mm socket and approx 2' of flat stock metal. Melted them together....

@Willy beamin did you use a complete TRS kit? Interested in details of the install and any ballast/driver mount, considering the same retrofit into Depos.
Used industrial strength Velcro to mount the drivers. Very few obvious spots to mount them.
I followed @Luke111 threads as a guide. Below are the items / materials i purchased for the project.

Got some dents straightened out (well, straighter anyway)

couple of coats of monstaliner on there. Now that it looks less like a raisin, time to go bang it up again!

I have been slowly rebuilding a rear hatch I got for free off a flooded vehicle here on the outer banks. Yesterday I used a heat gun and took of the window tint (the most annoying job ever!) I will never put window tint on my vehicles now. I also pulled off the land cruiser badge because it was cracked. it has a dent in it that I need to pull out next. I am putting all this work in because the one thats on my 80 has the common lower window rust on the rear hatch. it was poorly repaired with bondo at some point in the past. luckily this new free one has no rust what so ever!

10 years ago, my wife got me a Trasharoo. Yesterday, I finally got somewhere to install it!

I'm pretty happy with the latching mechanism too. It was a pain to install and align but feels OEM now that it's done:

I need to find a replacement for mine. Found one out in Colorado a few weeks back but the shipping was going to be more than the cost of the hatch. Mine looks like hell all faded with rust all around the glass.

Went out to the Ozarks. Felt good to finally get out with the cruiser. It’s been too long.

Sweet confection! If you need advice disassembling the cake, we would gladly volunteer to help! Congrats on 22! X2 here. Also get a fire extinguisher for your cake, and the real truck.

I built an interior fishing rod setup that's much more solid than anything else I've tried. Holds 11 rods. The rack itself has zero bounce or movement while off-roading to my favorite back country fishing spots. Having them bounce around on rope/bungees was super annoying.

The rods still have a little play in them, so I plan on stapling some small bungee cord on one side of the rear board near the bottom of the holes, which I can then easily loop over the rod handle as I put it into the rack. This should put enough pressure on it to hold it down and keep it from rattling around.

The finished product. I used the closet color of rattle can from Lowe's to paint the steel brackets secured behind the rear grab handles and the wooden rack.
5_Finished Empty.jpg

The steel bracket test-fitted in. I put three large washers between the grab handle and roof to keep the brackets from rubbing on the roof liner too much. I bought some slightly longer bolts to make up for the gap. The grab handles still feel very sturdy.

The color matched up pretty well to my liking.

A handful of rods in the finished product.

Shot from the front. I have just enough room to get my hand in between the front rack and the roof to turn the dome light on/off.

I really like this!

The only thing I might do for my own purpose is to move the centers of the holes in the front rack together a bit so that all the rods are pointed to the center of the truck and not directly over my head (or the passenger's head). I sit pretty high in the seat and my head would be on those.

What keeps them in their hole when you're hard on the brakes? Will they tend to slide forward and end up in a pile? Or is that what the elastic bungee you're talking about would be for?
