I just finished pulling the Slee rear bumper (serial number 41) off to get it blasted and re powder coated. 3 Utah winters have done more damage than the prior 23 years in New Mexico. I need a throwaway car.

Arrived at Pismo dunes. Looking for Cruisers.

Installed the second battery!View attachment 2016852
Is that positive terminal close to the hood when it's closed? Could you turn the battery 180* so the positive terminal is on the inside? It'd sure suck to burn your truck to the ground if that terminal shorts on the hood...

Its the back way to Duncan peak lookout off of mosquito ridge rd....tons of snow!
Mostly clear now. Still can’t get to soda springs though. I tried both trails out of french meadows.

😡

Finally swapped out the stereo and sub. Also, did an oil change, alternator brushes, and washer diverter valve in preparation for a few upcoming trips.

Did the bicycle tube thing on the sunroof. Not as easy as it sounds, could have used a couple more hands to keep it from popping out at one corner while stretching it to tuck in the other corner. Two of the 4 plastic things at the corners broke (see one that didn't break in the pic). Hope they're not too important. Doused the existing seal with a couple coats of 303 Rubber Seal Protectant thinking it would help to make it more pliable before I went pulling on it to stuff the inner tube down in there. Tried to keep everything lubed up with dish soap/water mixture. Was a tight fit when I put it back in there. It lifted right out easy when I removed it but I had to coerce it back in with a couple good raps with my fist. Opens and tilts still but can tell it's tight by the sound of seal rubbing against the metal. I never use it but this is the first step in trying to get rid of all the wind noise.

Picked up and starting painting a HF trailer to match the 80. The green duplicolor paint (it is a Ford color, they didn't have Toyota green) matches the 6M1 pretty well but I wanted the fenders to match the grey on the bumpers and that didn't work out too well. Too silvery but good enough. Just need something to haul 8'-10' lumber / plywood. Gotta say I was pleasantly surprised at the heft of the components for the trailer.

Was at work and looked up in the direction of my vehicle and had to take a picture. Realized I'm screwed if anything seriously expensive needs to be done to my 80 as I'll just have to bite the bullet and do it. I don't want anything else.

Pulled the flaps since I kept yanking the rear fenders off. Im going to pretend those will stay on forever now....

About to order a 4x4 labs rear so trying to decide if I should just go flareless. I did that on my FJ cruiser but later added bushwhackers since the flareless winter spray made driving a bit unsafe.

What size lift do you have? 2”? Also are those 315s? They fill the wheel well nicely. I have Cooper 315s on a 2” lift on mine and it still looks a lil empty.

Fixed a leaky coolant hose and changed out the oil with some fresh stuff. Also, cleaned up the rear cargo area a little so tools weren't thrown all around ready to kill me in a wreck

Made my way back down to Mission Viejo. Decided I needed to pick up a new starter. Picked one up and brought it over to @NLXTACY and installed it this morning. Picking up the family now to head north towards Pismo dunes.

I am still going to add a starter relay to the system just to have it ready and available when needed.

How much did you have to pay for @NLXTACY’s little bro?

Where in NM did you live? Such a beautiful and underrated state.

Corrales, northwest end of Albuquerque. My home is still there and my sons are looking after it while I am up in SLC. I will be back there at some point.

Yeah but, it's still Utah

Wish I lived there...Im in a different country called California, I would luv to be in the states...lol ;)

Enjoyed riding shotgun while a friend wheeled my 40. My 18 year old daughter killed it on the trails. So fun to ride along.
