Over the weekend.. cleaning this thing inspired me to clean the 80 since it hasn’t been washed in 2 weeks. Also made an official for sale ad on marketplace.
Drove the LX out to Foley and Mobile, since it hadn’t been driven in a week. Took a few pictures after the wash and watched the sunset.
While I love the LX, passed by another prospective buy.. but I’ve never liked black vehicles. This would be more of a simple build.. lift and tires, steelies, and the quad headlight conversion. 97 Collectors Edition with 170k miles, interior looks mint and never been offroad.. lots of oil build up underneath however. Price is reasonable and best offer, has me thinking

Yep, pretty much. He was in disbelief about it being all rocks at first, then where the trail gets tippy and tight he was feeling rumblings of distant prairie dogs. He held on until the pit toilet at camp but it was touch and go there for a minute.Did he shat and perhaps get a little nervous in the section at the beginning of Elephant Hill where you have to back down (if I remember the correct trail)?

Aside from the Slee drawers, I also got some more goodies for the 80.. now I just have to figure how the hell to use it, what kind of Antenna setup to get, etc etc.. and then get my ham license thingymajingy.

We had our annual Fall Camp & Ride this past weekend. It was the shake-down trip for the latest version of my sleeping platform. We rode a "more difficult" section of trail at Beasley Knob OHV Park, and after that everything in the back was a little loose. I discovered that the single strap that was supposed to hold the back half of my sleeping platform on top of the spare tire, and thereby keep it stationary, was coming loose (big concern). Also, my dry goods container kept sliding out (small concern). So, today I took everything out and kind of started over.
I also wanted to see if I could set it up so that I'd be able to sit up straight on the sleeping platform (getting dressed, etc.). However, to do that the pad would have to be in between the wheel wells and only about 3-1/2" off the floor. And, that would mean I couldn't keep my spare in the back. I did a little more tinkering and discovered that if I just moved my drawers back a couple of inches, I'd have enough room to comfortably sit up straight on a small stool beside the sleeping platform and keep the rest of my current setup.
So, I ended up putting a second strap around the spare tire, shifting the drawers a couple of inches, and adding a bungee cord to keep my dry goods container in place. I still need to work on something to keep my cooler from sliding around on the front passenger seat.

So I unboxed the unit! Looks good! And the remote mount attachment has a nice long cable. And you can stick the mic on the faceplate or the body of the unit, that gives me more mounting options.
Actually, flew to Golden, CO to pick up this 97 FJZ(!). Drove back through utah, Arizona and Nevada to San Diego. Stoked to be a part of the family!

After some thinking because the new ARB fridge doesn’t really or barely fit on the arb slide top I decided to change the configuration a bit. Strapping the fridge down to the floor and cargo boxes to the slide top. This way the boxes are secure/strapped down and easily slide out for access. The theory sounds good in my head but will see how that’s going to work out...eventually. Or eventually I’ll break down and get another low profile or medium profile slide top drawer.
How's the noise level on these I was looking at a set the other day. I have the at's and can't keep them balanced very well.

You should just drop those drawers off in Iowa in your way through tomorrow. No sense in having them on the back of your trailer.

Since i am out there all the time, i see who is doing 80% of this. As i drove by several camp sites that were packing up i noticed a ton of trash being left behind as well. From beer cans to dirty diapers. Its almost always Hispanic people. Idgaf if you think that sounds racist, its a fact. They ain’t the only ones who are guilty, but its much larger than the fair share. I yelled at a couple who threw a s***ty diaper out into the wilderness as we were trying to leave butcher jones. They just got into their truck and left.
I pick up more trash at places i shoot(well, whats left) than i bring out there. I despise seeing trash in our wilderness, but with little to no enforcement, there is little we can do other than pick up someone else's mess.
On another note, just because its been shot at, doesn’t mean shooters brought the trash out there. I have seen plenty of illegal dumping from people who only went there to dump.
That sucks, I don't see it as racist, just a culture where people aren't raised with the same respects as others.. Any other ethnicity raised in the same environment could have the same biases, either way. But it still sucks.
We lost an area that was a public outdoor range (no club or fee's, open to all public) it was closed due to all the garbage people dragged out to that one place to shoot up and leave. Unfortunately when they closed it, all the idiot shooters just go to random places in the woods now to shoot their garbage, really they're just shooting themselves in the foot with this behavior, and dispersing their garbage further out. At least with the range the garbage was concentrated in one area.
