Awesome work. I hate the bad apples too. Probably an unfair generalization though. Were the appliances dragged out by the shooters? In my experience they were probably dumped by someone else and then the local armed idiots were happy to punch holes instead of putting forth the effort that your group did. When I see I pile of beer cans next to a wallowed out mud hole and big tire tracks, I don't chastise the entire 4wd community, but there are bad elements, and there are many non-4wders that do use this as fuel to add gates to public land too. Thanks for the sweat equity that you are putting in to help counter this.Attended the Natural Restoration Lower Sycamore cleanup today. Good event, lots of responsible users there.

Because we had the capable trailers, were requested to recover some appliances at a more remote location. Ended up finding two mattresses, a small fridge, washer, dryer, three TVs two laptops and a bunch of junk, all of it shot up.

The main area (site 7) that we worked, by this time all of the big stuff was gone.

Trees are irrelevant, shoot them to death, no worries, they will grow back in a few decades!

Only one dumpster today, but it left totally packed and some trash went out in trailers. No weight yet, but estimated at ~6tons, representing ~$800 out of the OHV budget, for the dumpster alone.
Guaranteed, every single person there would have rather been wheeling today, the sponsors would prefer their donations were spent on OHV projects, instead of picking up after shooter pigs. This is by far the biggest recreation problem that Forest faces and the shooting community continues to deny, ignore, stand by, while the more responsible recreation communities spend their time and treasure on it. If they had any pride, it would be embarrassing! The sooner shooting is banned on public lands, the better it will be for those who care about having nice places to recreate!

Yesterday I dug into my heat issue since it's starting to cool down finally. Swapped out the control panel but it does the same thing so still kinda stumped. While I had the dash apart I installed a Pioneer head unit I had laying around that has bluetooth. Sounds pretty good. I have to figure out something to do under the radio or get a double din. This will work for now.

What shocks were you running before and the noted change?
Good work and nice 80. I wish I could have afforded an 80 at your age. I was, however, able to scrounge up the $3000cash for a 1975 fj40 when I was 20. That was in 1987 before fj40 prices shot skyward.Re did the brakes this past week. New calipers, rotors, pads, and extended lines. Night and day difference soooo worth it. Then I got my senior pictures taken. Of course had to get a few with the cruiser.

View attachment 1815219 Hit a 10 point buck!!!! Only broke my lens on my ARB bumper. But now I have to get a new lens...
I’m up to 18 points : 10 + 8 and one doe in 11 years!!! Not sure how many points for a VW Jetta that hit me. No damage other than scratches to ARB but totaled Jetta. More from me having to put it in 4 wheel low to get unstuck from car. Lol. Thanks for the protection ARB!!!!! Had “brush guards” since my first 1979 toyota 4x4 truck. Most were ARB. A few WARN. Need them in PA!!!!!How many points do you get for hitting a 10 point? Is it cumulative, or is there a multiplication factor? Will there be a test after this?...

Fully agree, as an OHV advocate we often get egg in the face, sometimes the trick is gracefully wearing egg! Recreation is not a right, it's a privilege, not political, it's about budget, activation, responsibility, etc. The agencies, for sure Forest, have little, if any budget for recreation, so to have quality recreation, we have to make it.
Attending meetings, events, with people representing just about every type of public lands recreation imaginable, they all have issues, often internal. A priority is to do what is possible to reduce, improve, eliminate the problems. The biggest issue we all face is the shooting problem and have never seen any representation at any of these events, as a gun owner I find this highly embarrassing. It's not about gun hate, most outdoor users, no matter what category they put themselves in, are gun owners.
The thing is, the shooting community is huge here, lots of manufactures, etc, could likely buy the rest of the communities out of pocket change. But don't care about the destruction of our public lands by members of their community. If they are too good to pickup trash, could at least fund the efforts that do it on their behalf. So if you are a big problem and don't care enough to do anything about it, do you deserve the privilege?
Tons of time and effort has been wasted attempting to engage them, with almost zero result. It's a tough decision, many of us have enjoyed shooting on public lands, but the juice is no longer worth the squeeze. At this point, all of the local communities that we work with, are done with the shooting deal, it needs to go, and are advocating for that goal.
