wow, I don't think I've seen one without at least a little rust

$2.68 for gas? ? Dem,, California what's going on? Can't remember last when gas was that low. You need to have atleast 3 cruisers

Good thing I have three!

25 year old plastic, it gets brittle with age. I spent quite a bit of time working with an injection molding company about potentially making new ones, they said the material used on these doesn't age well and sunlight/heat break it down. Unfortunately to cast and make new ones was cost prohibitive, so I had to buy OEM parts.
Gotcha. I ask mainly because I'm trying to understand the stress placed on them causing the breakage. I've seen a few threads about people going through multiples. I do have an 80 spare that is much more brittle looking than my original LX model.

Deleted EGR and moved O2 sensors to the manifolds. Was a snap with the wits end key chains. I will say the EGR was a little challenging. About as fun as the PHH. Just need to remove the throttle body coolant hose, replace the distributor O ring and advance the timing a bit. After that I am running out of things to work on.:(

The later (95-97) 80/LX clam shells for the air bag equipped column are way more durable than the earlier (90-94) styles. I don't know this for fact, but I assume Toyota used a different and more durable material to build the later ones. FWIW, the early and late clam shells are NOT interchangeable.

replaced a wheel bearing rear that was junk, repacked inspected and went for a test ride and it was freezing and wet.

Figured out what that grinding noise was coming from the rear end. Looks like the axle seal might be leaking too?

Well I spent most of the day working on my rear brakes and replacing the seals on the DS axle/hub. I pushed my rear brakes a little too far and ended up tossing a pad out and up in between the dust shield.

Needless to say when I pulled it all apart I found damage to the caliper piston. Off to Napa in an Uber since it's my DD and the wifey was at work. I bought my discs and "parking brake shoes" from the dealer and GreenStuff pads. Turns out the dealership sold me the rear brake shoes for the model with drum brakes! :bang: Now I have to find the correct part number and exchange. At least my rear brakes are working again. Need to step up my PM game.

650 mile trip to Bentonville, AR for some biking. Cruiser rolled 414k miles on the way home.
